Rubirizi district chairman Sylvester Agubanshongwire has revealed that the district he presides over is full of corrupt civil servants, politicians as well as residents.

He said this in an exclusive phone interview with www.mknewslink.com managing editor last evening.

Agubanshongwire was reacting to the arrest of the district assistant procurement officer Izidol Saturday who was arrested in Bushenyi on Monday over corruption.

He added that because of too much corruption in the district service commission, he disbanded it and formed a new one.

The chairman went ahead to tell www.mknewlink.com that he one time arrested a councilor who had brought him a bribe but was later released and case dismissed by DPP over unknown reasons.

He noted that he has been receiving residents at his office with bribes so that he gives them tenders adding that he has forgiven most of them after warning them.

Chairman Agubanshongwire told www.mknewslink.com that the victim in the recent corruption saga Eng. Timothy Muhwezi should have also been arrested because he bribed the assistant procurement officer.

In Bushenyi—

Police file of Rashid Kansiime alias Beto another suspect in the murder of Allan Mandela a former journalist at Hunter FM is ready to be taken to state attorney for sanctioning.

According to sources from CID department, enough evidence has been gathered and attached to the file which will soon be presented to the state attorney.

CID sources told www.mknewslink.com that the phone print out pins Beto to had talked to Loyce, before and after death of Mandela.

However, another source at Police intimated to this online that Beto claims that he was not with his phone at the time of the calls detected in the print out though his colleagues say they talked to him that same time.

Rashid Kansiime alias Beto who had been on the run since the day of the murder was arrested on the evening of 17^th March 2021 by a combined effort of Kizinda and Bushenyi central police and was picked from Omukatafari in Kizinda from a house garage.

Police in Bushenyi had hunted for Rashid Kansiime alias Beto so that he could be interrogated on why he made several trips to Rwentuha on the day Mandela was killed

Loyce Tihaine Omwangire his longtime girlfriend and a staff at Bushenyi FM in Bushenyi town was arrested in connection to the murder.

Tihainomwangire admitted to murdering her former boyfriend Allan Mandela a sports presenter at Hunter Fm Rwentuha, according to the Bushenyi Police sources.

The accused Loyce Tihainomwangire was on 18th Feb.2021 arraigned before Bushenyi grade one magistrate who remanded her to Nyamushekyera government prison until 19th March 2021 when she would appear for mention.

However, Loyce did not appear in court on 19^th March 2021 for mention due to yet to be known reasons.

In Bushenyi—-

Police in Bushenyi have arrested the assistant procurement officer for Rubirizi district Izidol Saturday on allegations of corruption.

According to the affected person Eng. Timothy Muhwezi, he gave Saturday 3,880,000 shs and promised to give him a contract to build Kirugu Moslem Primary School in Katerera Rubirizi district.

Eng. Muhwezi told www.mknewslink.com that Saturday came to him today morning asking for 300,000 shs so that he could give him a contract.

Muhwezi noted that the school is already built but Saturday has been continuously lying to him and that’s why he notified police which arrested him immediately.

Eng. Muhwezi added that the suspect is being transferred to Rubirizi police station which is the scene of crime.

Efforts to reach the police PRO Martial Tumusiime were futile as he was reportedly out of the office.

The Rubirizi district chairman Sylvester Agubanshongwire confirmed the arrest adding that he is waiting for details as the suspect is being transferred to Rubirizi from Bushenyi.

This is not the first case of corruption in Rubirizi; Doreen Tusiime the principal human resource officer was interdicted for creating ghost workers.

Uganda Wildlife Authority has confirmed that the 6 lions found dead at Ishasha sector, Queen Elizabeth national park were poisoned.

Dr. Patrick Atim the officer in charge of veterinary services at UWA has confirmed that all the 6 lions found dead were poisoned as per the preliminary findings by a team from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.

Dr. Patrick Atim said that they suspect a serious poison substance could have been used to kill the endangered climbing lion species all which were female.

UWA team has extracted samples from the dead lion and taken them to Kampala to confirm the poison that was used to kill the lions.

The Veterinary doctor said that even the vultures that feasted on the dead lions also died at the same spots.

The Chief Warden of Queen Elizabeth Conservation Area Pontiuos Ezuma acknowledged that they suspect the killers entered the protected area unnoticed and killed the endangered species.

Dr. Patrick Atim said investigations have been instituted to establish how poachers managed to enter the very well protected area unnoticed because it’s difficult for the rangers to be at every entry point of the park area.

Kanungu Deputy Resident District Commissioner Gad Ahimbisibwe Rugaju who visited the scene yesterday afternoon said it was unfortunate that the few climbing Lions in the Ishasha Sector were killed.

In Sheema—

Police in Sheema district have arrested two primary school teachers for fighting in a bar.

The two teachers; Daniel Mugizi and Magezi both staff at Rwabuza primary school Shuuku Town council Sheema district were yesterday arrested by Police for beating up Duncan Nkyonko into comma.

According to eye witnesses, the suspects beat up Duncan Nkyonko at around midnight in Doctors Bar located in Shuuku Town council Sheema district.

Eye witnesses say that the fight started when Daniel insulted Duncan that he could not afford the drink the two were taking and Duncan insulted him back before they started beating him.

The two decided to flee the place after realizing that Duncan had started losing his breath.

Police in Bushenyi have arrested another suspect in the murder of Allan Mandela a former radio presenter at Hunter FM.

According to sources, the suspect identified as Rashid Kansiime alias Beto who has been on the run since the day of the murder was arrested yesterday evening.

Sources say that Beto was arrested by a combined effort of Kizinda and Bushenyi central police and was picked from Omukatafari in Kizinda from a house garage.

Police in Bushenyi have been hunting for Rashid Kansiime alias Beto so that he is interrogated on why he made several trips to Rwentuha on the day Mandela was killed

A Police source had earlier intimated to www.mknewslink.com that the suspect disappeared the day Mandela was murdered and his family did not know his whereabouts.

He asked whoever had information that could lead to arrest of Beto to come out and reveal it to police.

In Sheema—

Police in Sheema are holding a man for allegedly having sex with his two biological daughters.

The suspect, Jackson Ninsiima is a resident of Mikamba cell, Kyaka subcounty, Kyegegwa district.

Ninsiima was yesterday arrested in Sheema where he had come to settle disputes with his two wives who hail from Bwayegamba Kigarama Sheema after their packed back to their paternal homes following his terrible acts.

One of the suspect’s wives, Abia Ninsiima intimated to www.mknewslink.com that his husband was for four times caught red-handed trying to force the daughters into having sex with him which prompted her to report the case to Sheema Police station.

According to the two daughters who were also at the police, their father once took them for family planning though they were still at a tender age not to go for such services.

However Ninsiima claims that he took his daughters for family planning because they had started flirting with some village boys.

He further alleges that his two wives accuse him falsely so that he is imprisoned and they sell his properties including land.

Bibian Aconge the OCCID Sheema Police Station told www.mknewslink.com that Ninsiima will be subjected for mental checkup before being arraigned in courts of law to answer charges.

Police in Bushenyi are hunting for another suspect in connection to the murder of Allan Mandela, Radio presenter at Hunter FM.
According to OCCID Bushenyi Benon Kivengrere ,the suspect is only identified as Beto a resident of Kitookye in bushenyi town and he is needed at police for interrogation.
He added that the suspect disappeared the day Mandela was murdered and his family does not know his whereabouts.
Kivengere added that suspect made several movements from Rwentuha to Bushenyi the night Mandela was murdered.
Kivengere asked whoever has information that could lead to arrest of Beto to come out and reveal it to police.

National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has been arrested as he led a peaceful demonstration demanding for the release of hundreds of his supporters.

Bobi wine alleges that they went missing after they were arrested during and after the January 14 elections.

The runner-up in the presidential poll which saw Yoweri Museveni declared winner was on Monday intercepted by police at City Square in Kampala as he led a group of his followers and MP-elects.

These were demanding for the freedom of Bobi Wine’s supporters, most of whom they say were kidnapped and tortured by security operatives.

“Bobi Wine arrested as he led MPs and other leaders in a peaceful protest against the abduction, torture and murder of his supporters. The protest was taking place at City Square, Kampala,” Bobi Wine  posted on his social media.

By the time of filing this story, they had been detained at Kampala Central Police Station.

Their arrest comes hours after Museveni in his televised address on Sunday night warned Bobi Wine and his NUP members of causing chaos ahead of his swearing ceremony in May.

“They have been planning that they will stop swearing in of the president. They won’t. They plan all sorts of crazy things including killing their own Opposition people to say it is the government,” Mr Museveni said.

The veteran leader also accused NUP of rigging elections just days after he said the poll may turn out to be the “most  cheating free in the history of Uganda” in his victory speech hours after the EC on January 16 declared him victor.

“This group of Kyagulanyi cheated massively in elections. They rigged and did ballot stuffing; helped by the weak organization of (ruling) NRM party and corrupt people in EC and police. Those who helped them in Police abused their trust and are a disgrace,” Mr Museveni said.

Although Bobi Wine insists his call is for peaceful protests, the security Minister, Gen Elly Tumwine recently warned and said the Kyadondo East MP and his supporters were only using the protest as a scapegoat to cause chaos and violence.

“We’re tired, hungry, angry and oppressed; but we still have brains and are non-violent. We chose not to use violence and we are innocent. They cannot outnumber us. I ask you to demonstrate peacefully,” Bobi Wine said in his online address on the night of March 14

In Mbarara—

Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital has today launched Covid 19 vaccination in the district with Dr. Celestine Barigye the hospital director getting the first shot.

The district has received a total of 5450 doses of Astrazeneca  Covid 19 jab and the vaccination process will officially commence on Monday 15/march/2021 with Health workers within entire Mbarara.

Dr. Celestine Barigye urged health workers from both Private and government hospitals to go for vaccination since they are at the forefront of fighting the disease.

Dr. Barigye revealed that the district health department has so far gazetted 5 vaccination Centres at; Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, Kamukuzi, Mbarara district Headquarters, Mbarara City Health Centre IV, Kakoba Health Centre III and Rubindi Health Centre III.

He cautioned the public to disregard rumors making rounds on social media that the vaccine brought by the government will pose health threats to their lives noting that the vaccine was accredited by the World Health Organisation.

According to Barigye the hospital has handled 560 cases since 17^th May 2020 and 323 were home based cases; 48 lost the battle to the disease including one of their doctor. They currently have two patients; one at the hospital isolation Centre and another one receiving treatment from home.

However ,the Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Lt. Col. James Mwesigye who doubles as the chairman Mbarara City  COVID 19 Task Force who was also vaccinated warned those who intend to sell the vaccine to people not to dare risk since they will be apprehended.
