The management of KIU western campus has rubbished rumors making rounds on media that one of their students was raped by witchdoctors.

The Public Relations Officer when contacted by www.mknewslink.com noted that he was just surprise since he was hearing this for the first time.

He said that he could not comment on the matter on grounds that he was unaware of such incident.

However, SP Martial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi regional police Public Relations Officer recalled that it is an old case which happened some years back.

SP Tumusiime who did not specify on the year in which the incident happened wondered why someone would repost it now to appear as if it’s current.

“This is a closed case which took place years back,” Tumusiime noted.

In Rwampara—-

Police in Rwizi region are investigating circumstances under which a one and a half year old toddler went missing from Rwampara.

The missing child is Leviticus Akanjuna a son to Ivan Besigye a resident of Rwamuhurura cell Kamomo parish Bugamba subcounty Rwampara District.

According to Akanjuna’s mother Monic Katusiime, he was in the compound playing on 21^st Feb.2021 while she prepared lunch in the kitchen but could not trace him minutes later.

 She told www.mknewslink.com that they continued with the search until 22^nd Feb.2021 when the father reported to Bugamba police station.

Rwizi Region police mouthpiece ASP Samson Kasasira said that they visited the scene and conducted searches but no evidence was recovered.

Kasasira added that the victim’s home is by the road side suspecting that the child could have moved to the road where wrong people picked him.

In Kabale—-

With anger, Kabale Catholic Diocese has allegedly petitioned President Museveni, accusing a minister for being sectarian.

In a leaked letter that has been making several rounds on social media, the catholic church accuses state minister for planning in the ministry of Finance David Bahati of causing division between the protestant and catholic churches.

On the letter dated 24^th December 2020, Catholics claimed that minister Bahati has used president Museveni’s name to sabotage government programs intended for Catholics diverting them to protestants.

In the copy which was received by the speaker of parliament of Uganda, Catholics accused minister Bahati of fighting almost every catholic who stood against a Protestants whether NRM or opposition though he is the party chairperson for Kabale district.

They cited that minister Bahati fought the Kabale district woman Member of Parliament Hon Catherine Ndamira during 2020 NRM primaries while contesting with Enid Origumisiriza (AUNT ENID) and unfortunately his side lost terribly.

Minister Bahati later funded hon. Enid Origumisiriza to again stand against the Kabale district NRM woman Member of Parliament flag bearer Catherine Ndamira but to their disappointment she defeated them hands down in the last concluded general elections.

Angry Catholics also accused minister Bahati of demeaning catholic functions compared to Protestants especially on church fundraising and youth meetings

Yearning Catholics again accused minister Bahati of influencing operation wealth creation program in Kabale especially Ndorwa west where the beneficiaries are mainly protestants and to add on that one must be loyal to Bahati.

The Catholics lastly accused Bahati of using president Museveni’s name to side line catholic, humiliation of priests among others.

In conclusion, the Catholics appealed to president Museveni for a quick intervention otherwise NRM is in the lean of falling in Kigezi region.

In Mbarara—-

The Public Relations Officer Mbarara University of science and technology (MUST) Angela Nakato has rubbished reports that there is a strike ongoing at the university.

Yesterday, the university staff association addressed the media in a press conference at the university announcing a strike of teaching and non-teaching staff because the government refused to enhance their salaries as earlier promised.

 However, Ms Nakato told www.mknewslink.com managing Editor on Sunday afternoon that there is no effect of the strike by lecturers.

 He said that students are still studying through E-learning and other online programmes though faced with a problem of data.

Meanwhile, the minister of education and sports Janet Kataha Museveni had earlier warned all public universities against strikes concerning their salary enhancement citing out the effects of COVID 19 pandemic.   .

In a letter dated 15^th Feb. 2021, Ms Kataha noted that the government is committed to enhancing payments of its staff in short and medium term.

She however asked academicians to join the rest to show selflessness and self-restrain to prove that in this very difficult time they will only ask what they can do for their country not what their country can do for them.

In Ntungamo—

The Inspector General of Government western Uganda has arrested three officials of Ntungamo district for allegedly embezzling 93 million shillings.

The three are; former Ntungamo district CAO Joanita Nakityo, current chief finance officer Andrew Byaruhanga and IT officer Julius Ashaba.

 It is alleged that the trio, between January-June 2019 had excess ugx 93 in salaries account which they channeled to their personal accounts.

They are expected to appear before Anti-corruption court Kololo tomorrow at 10AM.

In Kanungu

Police in Kanungu district are investigating circumstances under which a newly recruited Special Police Constable committed suicide after he allegedly set himself ablaze

The deceased is one Abeireho Lovis resident of Nyakatare cell Western ward Kanungu Town council Kanungu District

It’s alleged that on the 13 February 2021 he got into a conflict with his wife, and he was thrown out of the house since it was the wife’s.

 3 days later, on 16th February this year at around 06:00hrs near the home, he poured petrol onto himself and set himself ablaze.

According Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesperson, residents tried to rescue to Katate health center four where he was later in the evening referred to Mbarara hospital and on their way around Kambuga, he was pronounced dead.

Maate said that because his parents who were formally residents of Rukinga District migrated to Kyegegwa District in Tooro, thus the ambulance directly conveyed the body to Kyegegwa where postmortem will be done.

In Bushenyi—

The Member of Parliament elect for elderly western Uganda Can. Joram Tibasiimwa has hailed the late Archbishop Janan Luwum for being extremely brave and telling the dictator Idd Amin Dada that extra judicial killings and abductions of Ugandans at the time were bad.

Joram Tibassimwa said this today 16^th Feb.2021 in an exclusive interview with www.mknewslink.com managing editor at Friends hotel in Bushenyi town.

Can. Tibasiimwa added that Late Janan Luwum loved his country so much since some of the bishops like Kivengere fled the country but he chose to remain in the country until his death.

Idd Amin being a dictator, it was difficult for anyone to challenge him but due to Janan Luwum’s brevity, he stood his ground and challenged him even when he knew it could lead to his death.

Archbishop Janan Luwum was assassinated in 16^th Feb.1977 by soldiers of the then president of Uganda Idd Amin Dada.

Today is a public holiday in the memory of the archbishop Janan Luwum after President Museveni declared it some years back.

In Ntungamo—

The archbishop of the Church of Uganda Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Kazimba has called upon all the dioceses allover Uganda to invest in their vast lands in order to overcome land grabbers.

He said this during his first pastoral visit in south Ankole Diocese Ntungamo district.

Dr. Kazimba commissioned a number of projects at Kyamate hill including a hatchery, South Ankole mission health Centre III, Dean’s house, fish pond, mother’s union house, and irrigation scheme worth over ugx 635 million from the ministry of water and environment.

Flanked by his wife maama Margret Kazimba, he was received by south Ankole Diocese Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe and his wife Maama Lillian and diocesan staff.

He is however expected to end his three day pastoral visit today at St. Matthew’s cathedral.

Renowned radio presenter in Bushenyi district was last night killed in cold blood.

Allan Mandela Mateeka the sports master at Hunter FM was today morning 12^thFeb.2021 found in a pool of blood in his house in Rwentuha

Sources say that so far one Loyce Tihaine Omwangire his longtime girlfriend and a staff at Bushenyi fm in Bushenyi town has been arrested in connection to the murder.

According to the OCCID Bushenyi Ronald Kivengere, they received a call from Loyce that she had killed a person and the mob wanted to lynch her.

In Isingiro—

Police in Rwizi Region are hunting for three unknown assailants who shot and killed a man in Isingiro district.

The yet to be caught assailants attacked the home of  Sebusande Lawrence 60 years ,a resident of Rwakinono cell ,Kiryaburo parish,Rugaga town council , Isingiro district.

According to Rwizi police mouthpiece ASP Samson Kasasira the deceased’s family was raided at around 2300/c last night by three unknown assailants with a rifle and sticks.

They shot him dead and seriously beat his 60 year old wife Mbabazi Juliana and she is nursing wounds at Nakivale Health center III.

Kasasira noted that the body of the deceased has been taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital for postmortem.

No suspect has been arrested yet but police has recovered one cartridge of an AK47 SMG rifle at the scene of crime, Kasasira told www.mknewslink.com.

The motive of the murder has not been established but inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
