In Ibanda—

Ibanda Chief Magistrate Moses Kagoda on Monday rejected the
application for Vote re-count for Ibanda North constituency.

The application was filled by Maj. David Guma Gumisiriza, a former contestant on Independent ticket who was defeated by Xavier Akampurira Kyoma in the recent concluded parliamentary elections.

In the application which was filed to the Electoral Commission Maj. Guma complained that declaration forms obtained had many mistakes, irregularities and forgeries which he pointed and insisted for a vote recount.

Xavier Akampurira Kyoma (NRM) got 13,513 votes while Maj. David Guma Gumisiriza (Independent) got 13,186 votes.

According to documents handed to court by Maj. Guma Gumisiriza, he requested for Vote re-count in Ibanda South constituency instead of Ibanda North where he contested with Kyoma, Ssemakura and Gilbert Mugisha Karengye.

This mistake gave Kyoma’s Lawyer led by his counsel Bonafance Ngaruye Ruhindi of Ngaruye and company of advocates an upper hand to request the Court to quash the application.

While giving his ruling, the Chief Magistrate Moses Kagoda stated that the applicant Maj. Guma Gumisiriza did a big mistake to request for vote re-count in Ibanda South Constituency where he didn’t contest instead of vote recount in Ibanda North constituency where he had contested.
Kagoda said Court could not waste time and resources on a futile
activity of a vote re-count.

In Ntungamo—

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidates in both Parliamentary and Local Government elections in Ntungamo district have accused the district returning officer Latif Ngonzi of incompetence and failure to organize free and fair elections.

The candidates who were briefing the media at the district party offices in the Municipality championed by defeated LCV candidate on FDC ticket, Matsiko Chripus asked for his resignation.  

Matsiko said the election in which he garnered 6,165 votes (4.30%) was, characterized by ballot stuffing in Ruhaama, late delivery of polling materials and military involvement where uniformed men lining up to cast their votes dismissed civilians from casting their votes especially in Ntungamo Municipality.

Ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party candidate, Samuel Mucunguzi NRM was declared winner with 126,027 votes (87.91%) in an election that is now being disputed by opposition.

“In Ntungamo district, the electoral process is not over until it is over because we are petitioning court to declare the election conducted by Ngonzi as null and void, and prepare for another election since this man is incompetent to organize free and fair election,” Matsiko noted.

He also accused the returning officer, polling officials and polling assistants of siding with security agencies and NRM party claiming that Electoral Commission in the district recruited polling officials who were put forward by RDC, DISO and GISO and others submitted by NRM candidates which antagonized with electoral laws.

In Sheema—

The office of the IGG has ordered the Sheema district CAO to immediately dismiss another primary teacher who used a dead person papers.

The IGG’s investigation established that Herbert Masheruka Mugisha  a teacher at Rwemihingo primary school used the academic documents of the late Richards Tomson Kamugisha.

Masheruka admitted that he started impersonating his late brother Richard Kamugisha in 1997 after failing to join government service since he had no the required  four principal passes at O level.

The Deputy IGG Ms Mariam Wangadya directed the CAO to submit Kamugisha alias Masheruka to district service commission for dismissal.

She also ordered for the intervention of the OC CID Sheema Central police station so that Masheruka is prosecuted in courts of law.

In Rukungiri—

Police in Rukungiri District have in custody a man who yesterday allegedly attempted to murder his girlfriend

Jephas commonly known as Kasiramu tried to murder his girlfriend only identified as Edinah a resident of Nyakihanga western Ward for chewing his 800,000 shillings.

The incident took place at Republic Road at Central Bar opposite Centenary Bank near Rukungiri Police Station.

Dismas an eye witness told www.mknewslink.com that Kasiramu a 25 year old resident of Nyaruzinga Rukungiri Municipality used a knife in hurt  his girlfriend for chewing his cash without having an affair with him.

Residents rushed Edinah in the Karol I Lwanga hospital Nyakibale where she is still admitted in critical condition, according to Henry Kintu the Rukungiri DPC.

The DPC also confirmed the arrest of Jefas Kasiramu to help them with their further investigations.

In Bushenyi—

Police in Bushenyi district are hunting for assailants last night killed a boda boda rider, injured another one and took off with their motorcycles.

The body of the deceased identified as Brian Kalule, a resident of Nyamiko in Bushenyi district was today morning found lying at Kakoma along Kabagarame Road in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality.

The critically injured cyclist Nicholas Baguhemba a resident of Bumbaire Bushenyi district is currently admitted receiving treatment.   

By the time of publication, police had arrived at the scene and taken the body of the deceased for post mortem.

John Ainemukama, a Boda boda rider said they have always complained about the killings to the security operatives but nothing has been done

According to Ainemukama, more than three boda boda riders from Bushenyi Ishaka municipality were last year killed but up to now they have never received any report of the investigations

Ronald Rwabutwagu, the Central Division LCV Councilor appealed to boda boda riders to always identify their passengers before carrying them and notify their fellows about their destination.

Our reporter is yet to get a comment from the Bushenyi district Police spokesperson SP Martial Tumusiime.

In Kabale—

Kabale district LCV chairperson Patrick Besigye Keihwa is on spot for allegedly refusing to look after a kid produced by an orphan he had an affair with promising her a job.

The lady identified as Praise Ninsiima a resident of Rwakaraba, Northern division Kabale municipality has today Friday 22^nd Jan 2021 stormed Kabale central police station to report the case.

Ninsiima claims that the Kabale district LCV chairperson has refused to raise even a single coin to buy pamper for his 6 month baby girl.

According to Ninsiima, Chairman Keihwa had an affair with her promising to look after her, get her a job, but has not fulfilled any of these.

“He refused to take care of me when I was at Kabale Rugarama hospital and when I threatened to report him to police, he finally sent me only 22000 on my mobile money,” Ninsiima narrates.

The orphan told www.mknewslink.com that the Chairman has been threatening to arrest her if she dared report him to police boasting that all security officials work under his control.

She alleges that officers at Kabale main police station have been ignoring her since yesterday.

Bishop of Ankole diocese Rt. Rev. Sheldon Mwesigwa is hesitant to comment on the sex scandal of the emeritus archbishop Stanley Ntagali.

In a telephone interview with www.mknewslink.com yesterday, the Bishop noted that he had given an interview to another media house thus would not speak again.

He refused to answer one question from www.mknewslink.com claiming that he had talked to another media house but the managing director insisted that www.mknewslink.com was a different media house.

Ntagali was suspended on Tuesday 19^th Jan.2021 from the Church of Uganda over adultery with a married woman whom they had a child together.

The former provincial secretary for laity Prof. Emmanuel Karooro noted that it is not good to wash ones dirty linen in public adding that a church is sanctuary thus its secrets must be kept tightly.

Gordon Arinda Cowboy the Bushenyi Ishaka municipality MP condemned the action taken adding that this will encourage church leaders like reverends, catechists to engage into sexual scandals because it is as if it is now official.

In Bushenyi/Kampala—–

The former provincial secretary for laity Prof. Emmanuel Karooro has exclusively told www.mknewslink.com that it was very wrong for Archbishop Kazimba to suspend Ntagali over adultery allegations.

He noted that it is not good to wash ones dirty linen in public adding that a church is sanctuary thus its secrets must be kept tightly.

“Our sister church, the Catholics face similar challenges but they keep them secrets, therefore it was wrong for Archbishop Kazimba’s administration to ex communicate the retired archbishop,” Prof. Karooro noted.

He explained that when an adulterous woman was brought before Jesus whom the church follows, he asked whoever had never done it to stone her but they started leaving secretly one by one until Jesus was left alone with the woman.

Prof. Karooro is a vice chancellor of Ibanda University and he has been the head of laity for West Ankole diocese for over ten years and he says he faced a lot of challenges but handled them amicably.

He withered the storm when West Ankole was divided under Rt. Bishop Yona Katonene; Sheema vs Igara.

Yesterday, the province of Church of Uganda led by Stephen Kazimba suspended his predecessor Archbishop Stanley Ntagali over adulterous allegations.

In Rukungiri—

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has totally defeated the opposition specially FDC in the recently concluded general elections in Rukungiri district.

Rukungiri has for years been known as a strong hold for FDC given the fact that the former party presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye is a borne of the area.

However, this time around according to the District Returning Officer Namara K Abbas, Gen. Jim Muhwezi of NRM has defeated the incumbent Fred Tumuheirwe of FDC in Rujumbura.

Popular Betty Muzanira of FDC who is the incumbent woman MP was also defeated by Midius Natukunda Kaharata of NRM.

Things did not turn out well for Dr. Wallen Tumwine of FDC after Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa of NRM was declared Rukungiri Municipality MP elect.

In Kitagwenda—

The Electoral commission led by Justice Simon Byabakama has cancelled the nomination of Kitagwenda district interim Chairman Robert Mugabe due to alleged forgery of PLE results

Mugabe’s troubles started last year on Dec 7th, when a concerned voter in Kitagwenda district Kenneth Tumwebaze petitioned UNEB citing irregularities in the PLE results of Robert Mugabe

Mugabe was later called to appear before UNEB in December last year for hearing but he refused and instead ran to high court in Fort Portal where he obtained an order restraining UNEB from probing the authenticity of his PLE results.

The same high court however on 14^th Dec.2020 dismissed his case with costs.
