recovered gun

Police in Rukungiri District have recovered a rusty gun with 21 bullets which was hidden in bushes in Rwenjero village in Bugangari Sub County.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman confirmed that the gun with serial number UG-UPDF A451015 was recovered in the farm of a one Fred Turyakirirahi.

The farmer who was cutting elephant grass in his farm found the rusty gun and notified the Police at Bugangari Sub County who reported to Rukungiri DPC that came with his team to pick it.

Maate says that the Police will investigate the origin of the gun since it’s numbered and possibly get who hid it there and for what purpose.

The case of recovery of a Rifle has been registered at Rukungiri Police Station to help in further investigation.

Property mogul Sudhir Ruparelia on Thursday pardoned employees of radio Sanyu FM who had all been sacked after they staged a sit-down strike to protest a Management decision to reduce their salaries due to the COVID-19 lock down asked all the sacked staff at Sanyu FM to reapply for their jobs.

Management had on Wednesday, uplifted a decision to sack all staff at Sanyu FM after they had laid off work protesting a 25 per cent salary reduction the company subjected them to.

However, the company’s top managers met the heads of departments and agreed to pardon the sacked staff whom they said “apologised” to management.

A source who attended the meeting but preferred anonymity to speak freely said that the staff begged management to return to work because they were misled by one of their colleagues.

The source said that the top managers during the meeting agreed that all those who had absconded but wanted to return must re–apply for their jobs.

A mother of triplets on Tuesday morning stormed Kabale district Headquarters seeking for assistance to raise her babies who are only nine months old.

Sarah Niwandinda 29, of Kitunduguru village, Buhara parish, Buhara subcounty in Kabale District who is stranded at Kabale District headquarters told www.mknewslink.com that her husband abandoned her.

Silver Tindimwebwa a husband to Niwandinda who was a security guard escaped from home after his job was terminated due to Covid-19.

Niwandinda said she is struggling hard to feed her little triplets since she has no job in the village.

Niwandinda also has three other children at home who she is taking care of.

She revealed that her husband could have escaped from home after failing to pay for a loan of Shs 500,000 he had got from Sacco to take care of the Triplets.

Earlier last Month, Denis Michael Owamani, a resident of Nyakabungo Village in Rwene parish in Buhara Sub County committed suicide after failing to raise Shs 1000 to buy a sachet of salt.

The Member of Parliament for Igara East Michael Mawanda Maranga is likely to lose his seat to his former political assistant Johnson Nagasha.

The former political assistant for Mawanda Maranga Johnson Nagasha has moved around the constituency of Igara East campaigning for himself to defeat the giant Mawanda.

In 2016 MP Mawanda was defeated by the little-known Martial Andrew who was a former presidential assistant and had no money.

Johnson Nagasha told  www.mknewslink.com reporter that Mawanda should retire because he has not delivered to his promises.

When Mawanda won in a bye election in 2018, he disappeared and has never met with agents neither coordinators and therefore his former political assistant has decided to use these loopholes to defeat him.

Last time, Mawanda lost an election to the little-known Andrew Martial because he under rated his financial capacity and penetration into the masses.

Mawanda is making the same mistake by under rating Johnson Nagasha through not coming to the constituency to mobilise against him and assure constituents that he is going to run again and correct lies being circulated by his opponents.

In Ibanda—

Police in Ibanda district have arrested 70 people allegedly for failing to follow the president’s guidelines on coronavirus and curfew hours.

The District Police Commander, Ibanda, Ms. Emily Angomoku disclosed that 70 people were arrested while 26 cars and seven bodabodas were apprehended by traffic police carrying passengers during curfew hours in different areas in Ibanda district on Saturday night.

“Some of the arrested passengers were travelling in taxis, while others were on bodabodas heading to Masyoro landing site in L. George, Kicuzi sub county,Rushango town council, Bisheeshe, Ishongorero  and Nyakatookye,” She said.

She added that others were arrested from the Bars while boozing after 7.00 pm, though others managed to escape through windows and went into unknown places adding that Police are still hunting for them to bring them in the black books.

Ms Angomuku told www.mknewslink.com reporter that the 70 people are to be produced in courts of law today Monday,15^th in Ibanda district.

Bushenyi District Police Commander Joe Komackech has revealed to www.mknewslink.com    managing Editor that the missing manager for Kambuzi Farmers SACCO is in Kampala.

DPC Komakech added that the missing manager according to the tracking of his phone done by Police, he left Bushenyi for Kampala and when he reached Kampala, he switched off his phone.

He revealed this in an exclusive interview with www.mknewslink.com at exactly 1:00PM June 14, 2020 in his office at Bushenyi police station.

He said that Bushenyi police are now trying to establish whether he threw away the switched off Sim card and he reverted to a new one.

DPC Komakech added that the family of Mr. Elly Muhereza is not helping Police properly. The police are working on their own to find the missing manager Mr. Muhereza.

Manager for Kambuzi SACCO  Elly Muhereza went missing on Monday this week June 08, 2020  and board of directors  chairman run an announcement on social media confirming the disappearance of their manager.

He added that their manager could have been kidnapped and killed or kidnappers wanted a ransom. Currently the DPC says the manager is not dead but could be having financial problems.

The missing manager of Kambuzi Farmers SACCO in Kizinda -Kigoma town council has not been found since 8^th June 2020.

According to a close friend who preferred anonymity, basing on the information so far gathered, missing Elly Muhereza was not kidnapped but he is hiding somewhere because of immense family conflicts with his wife.

The friend added that Muhereza did not steal the SACCO’s money though he had a manageable loan of 7 Million shillings which cannot make him escape considering his salary.

He also noted that sometimes his friend would sleep in his vehicle parked outside in his compound because of conflicts with his wife which had turned unresolved.

The news of disappearance of Elly Muhereza was broken by the Board of Kambuzi Farmers SACCO on Social media platforms on Tuesday evening alleging that he could have been kidnapped and killed by unknown people.

Kambuzi Farmers SACCO started 10 years ago and the missing Elly Muhereza was the founding manager and it has taken big strides in its growth and development from village level to district level.

Kabale Resident District Commissioner Darius Nandinda has revealed that he is not worried about the letter written to the president by the Kabale journalists complaining about his misconduct towards them.

Journalists in Kabale recently wrote a strong worded letter to the president complaining about RDC Darius Nandinda interfering with their work.

Nandida told www.mknewslink.com managing editor in a telephone interview that there are three FDC journalists who are conniving with the powerful Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda , MP Wilfred Nuwagaba to spread the gospel of opposition in Kabale district.

He added that the president will not listen to them because the intelligence is on ground to know who is wrong or right noting that he is sure the president won’t implicate him as he is fighting opposition journalists.

The RDC admitted to www.mknewslink.com that he confiscated a phone belonging to Journalist Rodgers Akandwanaho attached to voice of Kigezi and handed it to DPC Kabale.

He noted that instead of Akandwanaho coming for his phone, he mobilized protesters who stormed his office the following morning.

On the issue of deploying Police at the home of Bob Rumanzi a presenter at Freedom Radio after he held a program about the fracas, the RDC denied the allegations.

The popular Reverend Father in Mbarara archdiocese Rev. Fr. Bashobora has remembered people of his homeland Bushenyi district and donated to them 2 tonnes of maize flour.
Bashobora requested the task force led by Loy Namara to distribute the two tonnes to residents in Kitookye Central cell central ward , Kigoma in Kigoma Kizinda town council and Kyabugimbi.
As we write this story ,the maize flour has already been successfully distributed to Kigoma residents and Kyabugimbi residents are still receiving.

According to Bashobora’s representative who delivered the relief, it was bought with financial support from christians of Dortmond in Germany Europe.
Bashobora is a popular evangelist who has touched many lives by offering scholarships to the needy students and also praying for people with spiritual problems so that they get healed.

The Rukungiri district roads committee has tasked the Rukungiri district and Municipal Engineers to account for the funds their departments received from the ministry of works and transport as road funds.
The committee also demanded for audited reports explaining how the two bodies spent road funds for the last financial year 2019/2020.
The committee through the chairperson Hon. Fred Turyamuhweza said that the two should always come with audited reports that clearly explain the expenditure of the road funds.
Hon. Turyamuhweza who is also the Rujumbura county Member of Parliament told the meeting that if the two fail to come with audited reports next time, he won’t allow the meeting to take place.
“No other meeting will happen unless they bring audited reports , an audited report helps us to affirm that tax payers money does the intended project. They are very many questions of accountability awaiting us outside so we want audited reports to answer such questions,” Hon. Turyamuhweza said.
The meeting took place at Palm Royal hotel in southern division Rukungiri municipality and no one was allowed into the meeting without a mask face.
Hon. Turyamuhweza’s reaction came after the two engineers failed to present audited reports which forced committee members to exchange words.
Rukungiri district has a road network of 346.5 kilometer and this financial year 2020-2021, the road and bridges construction department was allocated shs.925 million shared with sub-counties and town councils.
Last financial year, the department was allocated shs.802 millions and the department managed to open 5 new roads one in Nyakagyeme sub- county and 4 in Ruhinda, Kebison , Nyakishenyi sub- counties respectively according to the district engineer Julius Bajira.
Rukungiri municipal council has a road network of 145 kilometers and this year the department was allocated shs.666 million and last financial year, the department used only shs.566 million.
Julius Bajira the district engineer said that UNRA is working on a distance 216.8 kms of roads in Rukungiri District and presently they are in good motor able condition and his office is working very hard to ensure that the roads are put to acceptable standards.
On the issue of audited reporter, Bajira said that he will make sure a report is always presented to meeting to ensure proper accountability.
Suilta Nuwamanya, the municipal engineer told the meeting that he will also present the report to help the committee in following the usage of road funds given to Rukungiri municipal council.
The meeting was attended by Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament Hon Rolland Mugume Kaginda , Rubabo Constituency Member of Parliament and Rukungiri Woman MP Hon. Betty Bamukwasa Muzanira together with District Leaders.
