In Bushenyi

Police in Bushenyi district have on Tuesday 14th evening arrested 9 people who were found hiding and drinking alcohol in a bar.
They were found drinking alcohol in Wallet Bar and Lodges Ishaka at around 6:30Pm, hence violating the presidential directive of closing down all bars and night clubs.
According to ASP Shafon Beinomugisha, the Basajjabalaba Police station OC/CID,they arrested 8 men and one woman.
The owner of the bar known as Nathan who is also the Head of laity (mukuru wabakristayo) at Ishaka Urban Archdeaconry church was also among the apprehended .
ASP Beinomuggisha said they made the operation after being tipped off by locals about the continued operation of the Wallet bar though all bars were directed by President Museveni to close in March as a way of fighting the spread of COVID-19.
He warned all Ugandans who are not adhering to the directives that they risk being arrested and charged anytime.
Currently, Uganda has 54 COVID-19 cases with 8 recoveries and no any reported deaths.

In Bushenyi.
Two members of parliament for Igara East and Bushenyi ishaka municipality as well as minister of local government also MP Igara west have been accused by Bushenyi district Covid 19 task force of abandoning their voters.
According to sources from Bushenyi district covid 19 taskforce mp Mawanda, Cowboy and Magyezi have not sent even a little of fuel or a single kilogram of Posho to help voters in these trying times.
A list seen by www.mknewslink.com managing editor of people who have contributed to the task force included;Mary Karooro Okurut who has provided 2 fueled vehicles per sub county to carry patients especially pregnant mothers to health facilities for treatment.

Mary Karooro Okurut was assisted by Tycoon Hassan Bassajabalaba in providing fuel and facilitation for drivers.
Another person seen by www.mknewslink.com on the list is Bamugisha community welfare headed by Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha and his wife Annet Katusiime Mugisha who also contributed fuel and vehicles to transport patients from villages
According to the list, other leaders who have worked immensely are Chairman Jaffari Bassajabalaba and CAO Malik Mahab. These and the task force and health workers at the beginning when every thing was at a stand still and gave a lot of fuel and allowances.
Another entity /local government in Bushenyi district ,Bushenyi Ishaka municipality has never given anything to the cause in the district.

In the district meeting attended by www.mknewslink.com managing editor , the mayor Kamugasha and district chairman Jaffari accused the town clerk William Makune of abandoning the exercise by not attending the meetings neither contributing any coin.
“I don’t know whether the town clerk William Makune has blacklisted my number.I have called him several times to come and join the cause but he doesn’t pick my calls,”Jaffari lamented.

In Rukiga

Police in Rukiga are hunting for a woman and her son who allegedly murdered her husband over his intention to sell land.
It is alleged that two;Ninsiima Ronnah and Ainamani Ivan assaulted Ndinabo Emmanuel with sticks and a panga until he died.
Elly Maate the Kigezi Region police spokesperson told www.mknewslink.com reporter that the incident occurred on 10/04/2020 at around 1900 hours in Kankiro cell, Kyabuhangwa parish, Kamwezi sub county Rukiga district.
Maate noted that Deputy CID officer and party visited the scene where they recovered exhibits of a panga and sticks then recorded relevant statements.
He added that the post mortem was done while the suspects are still at large.

In Ntungamo

Ntungamo Police have summoned the Nyakagando Village Chairperson Saturday Ernest Kamanda to answer to charges of obstructing police officers as they implemented the presidential directives to close bars, shops with non food items.
The summons dated 7th April 2020 wants Kamanda to report to the investigating office on Friday 10th April 2020 at 2:00pm to provide valuable information in the matter.
The Officer in Charge of Ruhaama Sub County Police station in Ntungamo District Charles Muhoozi on Monday opened a case of obstructing police officers on duty against the Nyakagando village chairperson Saturday Ernest Kamanda.
Muhoozi opens the case two days after the Nyakagando village chairperson Saturday Ernest Kamanda filed a case of assault against the police officer to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit.
It is alleged that Charles Muhoozi, the Officer in Charge of Ruhaama Sub County Police station assaulted Kamanda at Nyakagando trading center over the weekend.
Kamanda says Muhoozi and another police officer allegedly assaulted him after he asked them not to brutalize people in the trading center where he also owns some businesses.
Kamanda, says he on Monday registered a case to Nakalema’s Anti-corruption unit through a phone call and is waiting for their action on the police officer.
The Ntungamo Police Station, Crime Investigations officer, Godis Twinamastiko, confirms the police officer have opened the case.
Twinamastiko, says they are currently investigating two counter accusation cases after the police officer also opened a case against the chairperson.
He says the Chairperson is now charged with inciting the public and obstructing police officers on duty.
Twinamastiko says he is not aware if the chairperson has registered a case with State house Anti- corruption unit but he is aware he opened a case at the police station and the implicated persons have recorded statements.

Ntungamo Resident District Commissioner, George Bakunda says he was informed that the chairperson interfered the officers as they implemented the presidential directive of closing bars.
Kamanda says he had recorded statement at Ntungamo Police Station.
Samson Kasasira, Rwizi Region Police spokesperson says a case was entered into the criminal registry book under case number SD ref 34/3/4/2020.
Mariam Natasha, the spokesperson to State House Anti-Corruption Unit confirms to press that the chairperson opened a case with the Unit over the weekend.

In Mitooma

The RDC Mitooma Ada Asiima this week arrested and detained the Anglican lay leader in Mitooma district for using the mega microphone calling people to come and pray at his church .
The lay leader only identified as Ntambirweki the lay leader at Bubaare C.O.U in Mitooma town council was found with mega microphone at his church calling Christians to come and pray which is against presidential directive that led to closure of churches .
The RDC noted that after arresting Ntambirweki, they met people along the way going to church which meant that he wanted to congregate people and lead prayers which is against the presidential directive .
The RDC added that Lay leader Ntambirweki was arrested and taken to Mitooma police station but he was shortly bonded so he will keep reporting at Mitooma police until his case is resolved
The arrest of Ntabirweki is similar to that of a Reverend Father who was arrested in Kisoro and another Anglican Reverend who was arrested in Rukungiri shortly after the presidential directive took effect .

The retired ambassador of Uganda to Australia His Excellency Ambassador Enoch Nkuruho has hailed Ugandans for working hard to eliminate corona virus pandemic out of Uganda .
He noted that Corona Virus can be eliminated when leaders of Bushenyi remain united without following political and religious affiliations.
He strongly hailed president Yoweri Museveni for working hard to save his citizens from Corona Virus.
He said that Museveni has addressed the country 7 times which is a sign of Commitment to fight Corona Virus.
He urged people to wash their hands with soap , not to touch themselves in soft parts such as mouth ,nose eyes,and ears.
Among the leaders in Bushenyi, he applauded Bamugisha community welfare who have gone on radio BFM and other media channels to sensitize people on how to avoid dangers of Pandemic.
He also thanked Hon. Mary Karooro Okurut the minister in charge of general duties in office of prime minister for providing transport at sub county level mainly to women who are going to deliver children , he also applauded the RDC who closed bars enforcing Law and order in Bushenyi district
The retired Ambassador also wondered where the politicians who were circulating calendars in Christmas times showing their photos are now in these trying times.
The ambassador advised politicians that this is the time they should show their people their interest and ability to work for them.
He urged chairmen LC1, LC2,LC3 to work hard to sensitize their people so that they prevent themselves from the deadly Corona virus.
“I was very much angered by a certain pastor who shook hands with UBC presenter on Sunday evening which is against the presidential directive and therefore people should stand warned that shaking of hands could easy spread Corona Virus,” Nkuruho.

In Rukungiri

Police in Rukungiri have arrested three people for allegedly poisoning their maternal uncle over land disputes.
The arrested have been identified as Tumuhimbise Tofayo, Musime Edward and Barekye Enoth residents of Nyakahanga A cell Masya parish Nyakagyeme Sub county Rukungiri District .
According to Elly Mate the Kigezi region Police mouthpiece,Early this year the deceased Bankwasa Godfrey aged 60 years old had a conflict with the three for selling his own land to drink and care for the sick mother.
The area Chairperson LC I Christopher Mugume said he intervened in their dispute and resolved that the said children had no right over the deceased’s property and a document was made to that effect for clarification.
However the chairperson said that the three were seen by residents drinking together with the deceased in his house of residence.
The chairperson told police that early in the next morning, the neighbours heard the deceased struggling for life, rushed to his door to check on him but found the door locked from outside.
He said they found the deceased already unconscious ,had foam covering his mouth and he died instantly.
Maate said that a team of personnel from Rukungiri police visited the scene and arrested the three suspects to assist in investigations.
Body was taken to Rwakabengo HCIII for Post mortem as inquiries are underway.

In Mitooma

The Kashenshero town council councilors have written to the Chief Administrative officer and district chairman not to dare transfer back Arthur Nzeyimana to the town council after he caused havoc.
This was contained in a letter that was written by councilors to the two officials,in the letter councilors claimed that they are enjoying peace with the current acting town clerk so they don’t want to bring back Nzeyimana with his problems.
The Acting district chairman Sylvester Tumukuratire confirmed receipt of the letter adding that he is preparing to meet stakeholders to take decision over the complaint by Kashenshero councilors.
This comes after the chairman Israel Atukwase of the probe committee set up to investigate loss of money and mismanagement of contracts in Kashenshero town council gave a fake report because he had a conflicting interest as he was the supplier of murram to the town council.
The town clerk for Kashenshero town council Arthur Nzeyimana was interdicted after he allegedly collaborated with his treasurer  Kajangu to steal 38 million shillings for the road fund.

In Kabale

Police in Kabale have arrested a 22 year old man for allegedly murdering his 52 year old father.
The suspect Emmanuel Muramuzi alias Dickson of Karujabura village, Mwendo parish Kitumba subcounty Kabale district allegedly strangled Fred Magezi of the same address.
It’s alleged that on the 28/03/2020 around 22:00 hours the two were heard quarreling as usual, not knowing that the deceased was eventually murdered.
According to Elly Maate the kigezi region police mouth piece,the body of the deceased was today morning found lying along the way about half km from his home and his bicycle on top.
Maate said that fortunately, the blood stains were all over the way up to his home which made people suspicious of the son who was immediately arrested.
He confessed to have strangled him because he denied him selling more land for his personal use, then carried the body to the road to confuse people.
Police visited the scene and body was taken to Kabale referral hospital for postmortem.

Ruparelia Group managing director Rajiv Ruparelia has dismissed with contempt a fake demand notice making rounds on social media that property firm, Crane Management Services, has issued a demand notice or reminder to its tenants.
Crane Management Services is one of the biggest landlords in Kampala’s prime properties, and is owned by the Ruparelia Group which is at the forefront of fighting the spread of the Covid19 pandemic.
After the company donated sanitizers and other preventive accessories to Kampala’s leaders to fight the government coronavirus, a fake demand notice in the name of CMS appeared online claiming that Crane Management Services was pressuring tenants to pay rent.
This misinformation was aimed at distracting Ruparelia Group from offering support to the Kampala city community to defeat the pandemic on rampage. One of concerns of most traders is rent after government locked down the country, cutting public transport off the city as well as shut down of non essential business.
Rajiv dismissed as fake the notice and says CMS has not offered any guidelines for rent payments. Instead the company is focusing on the efforts to return the city back to normal.
The fake notice read, “We hope you are paying Rent for April Late payments may force us to send you Auctioneers After 5th April 20 you may be charged 10% for late payment. Hurry”.
CMS says, “this document is FAKE, it is not addressed to any of our tenants as it bares No name addressed to, No property and No shop number.”
Rajiv noted that “our Management is busy discussing our next actions to help underprivileged Ugandans fight the virus and have no political motives whatsoever.
Rajiv also said in a statement, “At the right time we shall communicate to our Tenants on the way forward and shall consider those that are directly affected by the hazards of the current crisis.”
It has since emerged an MP is behind the circulation of the fake demand notice with ill intentions to create unease among tenants of CMS.
Ruparelia Group is a business conglomerate, whose profile extends through property, hospitality, education, agriculture, media among others. It is not inclined towards any political group.
