8 MEN, ONE WOMAN ARRESTED IN BAR IN ISHAKA

Police in Bushenyi district have on Tuesday 14th evening arrested 9 people who were found hiding and drinking alcohol in a bar.
They were found drinking alcohol in Wallet Bar and Lodges Ishaka at around 6:30Pm, hence violating the presidential directive of closing down all bars and night clubs.
According to ASP Shafon Beinomugisha, the Basajjabalaba Police station OC/CID,they arrested 8 men and one woman.
The owner of the bar known as Nathan who is also the Head of laity (mukuru wabakristayo) at Ishaka Urban Archdeaconry church was also among the apprehended .
ASP Beinomuggisha said they made the operation after being tipped off by locals about the continued operation of the Wallet bar though all bars were directed by President Museveni to close in March as a way of fighting the spread of COVID-19.
He warned all Ugandans who are not adhering to the directives that they risk being arrested and charged anytime.
Currently, Uganda has 54 COVID-19 cases with 8 recoveries and no any reported deaths.
