20,000 IDS CONFISCATED AT KATUNA BORDER SINCE 2015

A total of 20, 000 Uganda National Identity Cards have been confiscated from non Ugandans by Immigration officers at Katuna boarder point since 2015.
According to the Katuna Cluster Immigration Officer, Wallace Bindeeba most of the confiscated National Identity Cards were owned by Rwandans who lived in the areas of Mubende, Kiboga, Kabarole and Kyenkwazi.
Bindeeba explains that when most of them were interrogated at the border, they claimed that they got the IDs with the help of local leaders in the areas where they registered from.
He however says that the confiscated Identity Cards were taken back to National Identification and Registration Authority-NIRA last week for\ questioning.
