State Minister for Finance Planning David Bahati has warned corrupt civil servants of terminating their contracts if they do not stop the habit.
While presiding at the launch of Ryakarimira town council in Rubaya sub county Kabale district, Mr. Bahati said government cannot tolerate civil servants who are lazy, corrupt and incompetent to keep on misusing government resources.
Minister Bahati said the new initiative is aimed at ensuring effective delivery of services to Ugandans.

He blamed civil servants for failing to spear head government programs due to their personal selfish needs retarding service delivery.

‘’Getting rid of inefficient civil servants will speed up policy implementation and improve the lives of ordinary Ugandans ‘’ Mr. Bahati said
Rubaya sub county Chairperson Can. Enoch Kazooba asked government to buy the newly created town council a vehicle in ensuring proper service delivery.

The election petition filed by former Igara East member of  Parliament Micheal Mawanda at Mbarara high court resumed on Thursday where he has so far presented a total of  28 witnesses before justice Dr. Winfred Nabisinde.

Mawanda claims that grounds that took him to court were tarnishing his name by opponent Andrew Martial by saying that police in India was looking for him and again said that he was part of COWE directors who stole peoples’ money.

“Am around as a free man and police in india has never at anytime looked for here in Uganda, I took india’s based company videophone to court for wrongly accusing me, defeated it in Indias highest court and it even compensated me. So how can they look for me? These are lies that led to my lose of the 2016 Igara East parliamentary seat in Bushenyi district.

He also noted that most of his voters were barred by martial’s supporters from voting. Mawanda added that still many polling stations closed before the mandatory time of 5:00pm. This led to some of his voters not vote and this is against parliamentary elections act of 2005.

Mawanda is very confident that he will win this case because his witnesses are testifying very well and he hopes to get justice from court.

When www.mknewslink.com editor tried to speak to Andrew Martial yesterday on how he sees his defense, he told him that the media was biased and was only covering Mawanda’s side. This editor told him that it was his chance then to tell his side of the story but refused.

The media covering the petitioned at Mbarara high court resolved not cover any story from Martial because he made wrong accusations and still embarrassed them that he cannot speak to them because it is a waste of time to speak to media at court.

kanungu RDC Harriet Nakamya after apologizing to kanungu politicians whom she cheated in NRM primary elections last year

Kanungu Resident District Commissioner Harriet Nakamya has come out and personally apologised for interfering in last year ruling National Resistance Movement party primaries where candidates whom she favored but lost were instead announced as winners.

It took the intervation of president Museveni into the matter before the rightful winners were eventually announced as NRM flag bearers in different areas. Nakamya sounded the apology yesterday while speaking at the Idd El fitri day prayers at Kihihi main mosque in Kanungu district.

Those who had been sidelined by the RDC in the NRM primaries and eventually became winners include Kinkiizi West MP Hon James Ruggi Kaberuka, Kanungu District Woman MP Hon Elizabeth Karungi Beikirize, Kanungu LC 5 chairperson Josephine kasya among others. “i am sorry for what ever did not go well during the election especially where some people were not declared winners in the NRM primaries last year,” She said. Nakamya called for total forgiveness and pledged to work with every one who was eventually elected as a leader at any level regardless of the party she or he belongs.

In November last year during the NRM elections losers were announced winners and these included Jacqueline Kyatuheire for Kinkiizi West, Ruth Karungi for woman MP Goddie Willy Beluga for LC 5 and dezi Tugume for Kihihi town council. However Kasya and others who had been sidelined reported the matter to president Museveni who sent a verification team headed by NRM national vice chairman Alhaj moses Kigongo

As Muslims world over converged for  Eid Al fitr prayers today morning, the Mbarara district Muslim Kadhi Sheikh Ramadhan Khamis calls for reconciliation between political demagogues if we are to have peace in the country.

In the prayers held at Abu-Bakr Mosque along Buremba road in Mbarara town Sheikh Khamis said that elections ended but there is still disagreements among the political leaders therefore there is need for reconciliation among them for the peace of their subjects.

Sheikh Khamis says all kinds of leadership comes from God therefore there is no need of political leaders to fight for power as it is all given by God.

The Mbarara Municipality Mayor Robert Mugabe Kachebezi who also attended the Eid-Al- Fitr Prayers calls for harmony in Muslims and asked them to solve their wrangles internally as it shows a bad image in public when they come out and start fighting each other.

DAVID MUHUMUZA FORMER MP MWENGE NORTH SUCESSFULLY WON A CASE IN FORT PORTAL HIGH COURT THAT NULLIFIED THE VICTORY OF HIS OPPONENT.

Political tension arises in Mwenge North Constituency in Kyenjojo district after 5m business was burnt into ashes.

Police in Kyenjojo district are investigating circumstances under which unknown people burnt to ashes hardware business worth 5million shilling in Bufunjo sub-county.

According to sources the assailants set on fire the shop belonging to one identified as Omuhereza Moses Bigirwa resident of Kifuka trading centre in Bufunjo sub-county.

Martin Mbabazi the district police commander Kyenjojo told www.mknewslink.com reporter that the attack could be following political wrangles in the area.

The DPC noted that the victim whose business was burnt is a supporter of David Muhumuza who won the case against Laurence Akugizibwe who was declared Member of Parliament for Mwenge North constituency and his victory was later nullified by courts of law.

However the DPC Martin called for calm amongst residents since electoral commission is organizing fresh elections for their candidates.

Fort Portal municipality in western uganda

   West division in Fort portal municipal council  passed a nine hundred fifty eight million two hundred twenty four thousand one hundred thirty six (958,224,136) budget for the financial year 2016/2017.

According to the division speaker Mr. Muhumule Bob the financial year budget is aimed at improving service delivery to the masses through infrastructure development, supporting agriculture and the youth for the development of west division and Fort portal Municipality in general.

Talking to www.mknewslink.com reporter yesterday, the division chairman Mr. Muhumuza Richard observed that 75% of the financial year’s budget will be from locally raised revenues and the remaining percentage from unconditional grants.

He said that this will cater for local people’s concerns as well as developing west division like any other division in the country

Muhumuza urged people to work hand in hand with the government as now the major source of income is from sweat and also thanked the technical staff for understanding their work and councilors for monitoring projects of the division and cement unity and cooperation among councilors for a common goal.
