MINISTER BALAAM URGES MASINDI WOMEN TO EMBRACE ‘GROW’ PROJECT

The Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Dr. Balaam Barugahara, has urged women to use the Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity Women (GROW) funds.On Friday, while launching the one-day GROW training for women at Kabalega Resort Hotel Masindi, Dr
Balaam stressed that in most cases, beneficiaries of such programs tend to use the funds for other unintended purposes, like marriage ceremonies, among others.
He applauded the government for the project and said it would improve household income.
Balaam said the the World Bank released 800 billion shillings to boast the businesses for women to transform from poverty to money economy.
Balaam on economy Eng. Patrick Kalonda, a researcher from NARO, says they are training women entrepreneurs in goat, dairy, and apiary enterprises and imparting skills to women in order to improve on their livelihoods.
The Masindi District Chief Administrative Officer, Sanyu Phiona asked the women to embrace the GROW project.
Eng. Annette Kyomuhangi, the Bunyoro regional manager of Dairy Development Authority, asked women in Masindi to embrace the GROW project and adopt best animal husbandry practices since they will have access to the grant.
Cosmas Byaruhang pledged total support to Masindi women entrepreneurs and asked them to embrace the GROW project to improve their businesses.
