IN KABALE—-
The appalling state of Kabale Municipal stadium in Kabale municipality
has irked sports lovers.  Kabale Municipal stadium is the major sports
facility in Kigezi region.
The facility lacks a perimeter fence, which has prompted residents to
trespass and use it for open defecation. The stadium has also become
home to several criminals and marijuana consumers.
The Director of Sharp football club Owen Tumuhimbise, whenever they
play football in the stadium they compete for space feaces and waste
from surrounding area.  He adds that the stadium has been also
destroyed by people who drive inside there.
The Federation of Football Association-FUFA delegate for Kabale
district Swezen Niwagaba says due to the lack of the perimeter wall
some residents have created some accessibility roads. He adds that
council should tender the stadium for proper management.

The Chairman Central Division Sam Arinaitwe admits the stadium is
appalling. Arinaitwe says that they plan to explore ways of
rehabilitating the facility especially gate to reduce on accessibility
by people and also improving on its security.
The Kabale Municipality Mayor Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha says that as
planning authority, they want to renovate the toilet within the
stadium and open it to the public. He adds that they will hand it over
to an investor so that it can generate revenue to council.

IN MBARARA—–

Police in Mbarara have cancelled Kakyeka circuit scheduled to take place this Saturday as most top rally driver arrive in the area to take part in the 157 kilometer race of Mbarara motor rally.

The competitive race opens the national calendar of motor sport championship every year.

Rwizi region Police spokes person Ibin Senkumbi says police was forced to cancel the Kakyeka circuit because organizers of the event have failed to make safety assessment report of the pitch that is situated near Mbarara town where several other functions will take place on the same day saying all these cant well with a motor rally in the same area.

He told journalists that the organizers also snubbed involving security in the planning process who would have advised them on the best way to have a successful motor rally competition in order to avoid such late time crossing of the Kakyeka circuit.

He however said the organizers of this year’s race which will cover six sections beginning from Kakoba point in Mbarara Municipality are free to relocate the circuit to any other place and promised that police will provide security to the general motor rally exercise.

Some of the western based motor rally drivers like Yasin Mukasa are already making rehearsals at Inertia runway in Kifufu, Bubare sub county so as to challenge top drivers like Jas Mangati, Arthur Blick Junior, Pole Pole, Hassan Alrwi and Sebuguzi Ronald the winner of last year’s Mbarara  motor rally who have already registered for the race

IN MBARARA—-

A group of youth in Mbarara town yesterday morning stormed the Office of the Mbarara RDC protesting a move by Mbarara district local government to hire Kakyeka stadium to be used for motor rally.

The Youths led by Kibure Muruwa noted they had received a notice that Kakyeka stadium which is mainly used for soccer is to be used for motor rally a move they oppose saying it will destroy the stadium.

Muruwa says since that season of games for primary and secondary schools in the country is soon starting, the stadium should not be hired for motor rally to prepare it for those games.

Salim Twaha, the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) delegate for Mbarara district told journalists that as Uganda tries to develop football game, it’s not the time for local governments to start destroying the football stadiums by turning them into motorsport grounds.

In her response, the Mbarara RDC Capt. Martha Asiimwe said that she insists on her position of not allowing motorsport rally in Kakyeka stadium as indicated in her letter which was addressed to Mbarara district Chief Administrative officer.

In the letter dated 20^th January 2017 which was seen by www.mknewslink.com reporter in Mbarara, the RDC said together with the security team that they found out that allowing the motor rally in Kakyeka stadium may cause chaos in town which they rejected.

Excitement of Africa cup of nations goes to Mbarara regional referral
hospital as doctors and nurses don the Uganda cranes jersey for work.

Dr. Moses Kayondo the head of obstetrics and gynecology department at
the hospital says they are forced to don the Uganda cranes jersey so
as to mobilize support for the team among the people and patients they
are meeting in the hospital.

He said although they have not raised money they feel creating
awareness among the rural people about the Ugandan team which will
start playing  in the Africa cup of nations competition in Gabon
tomorrow will make the team become more popular.

Dr Moses added that as they are the best obstetrics doctors in the
region, they would also want to associate with Uganda cranes because
it is the best national team in the entire continent with   best
players.

He said they are so happy for having donned and appeared in the
hospital in cranes jersey and treated people and were able to at least
help helped more than 15 mothers to deliver safely

But while that sounds fantastic, it’s really not as it turns out John Obi Mikel is actually called ‘Michael’, but the Nigeria Football Federation incorrectly spelt his name ahead of the Under-17 World Cup in 2003.

It was not all bad though as Mikel/Michael preferred his new moniker and stuck with it before joining Chelsea in 2006.

Now Michael, born John Michael Nchekwube Obinna, has officially changed his name to ‘Mikel John Obi.

The midfielder’s name was incorrectly spelt by the Nigeria Football Federation in 2003 and he decided to keep it but has now officially changed his name from Michael to Mikel

The first half ended in a goal less draw but when the second half kicked off KYAPS scored 2 consecutive goals which weakened Bfm radio players but were later rejuvenated when the referee awarded them a penalty.

In general analysis of the game, KYAPS was a strong side because it dominated the game from the beginning to the end.

The general manager KYAPS Sharon Nahabwe told www.mknewslink.com news website that the match was one way of mobilizing and entertaining its customers and as well a marketing tool to bring more customers to their bank.

The general manager added that they have another match between KYAPS and Muhame financial services based in Kabwohe Sheema district soon.

The chairman board of governors Bfm, Jonas Tumwiine said they lost the match not because they were weak but their players stabilized at the end of the match but promised that next time they will play better.

He hailed Bfm listeners who came to witness the matched and thanked those who listened the match live on radio.

On the other hand he promised that the BFM radio station will continue to give quality programs, news and other services to its listeners programs.

IN RUKUNGIRI
Kabale trinity college has been has been banned from the National
secondary school hand ball games tournaments for three years following
the discovery that it fielded a male student in female sporting
competitions.
On 13th July this year, Police in Rukungiri arrested one Apollo
Byamugisha a student of Trinity College Kabale for impersonation.

Rukungiri District police commander Ronald Wotwali said Byamugisha was
arrested from Immaculate Heart Girls School- Nyakibale where he was
participating in female sporting competitions while sharing a
dormitory with female students.
The suspect was reportedly been on the netball and volley ball teams
on behalf of Kabale Trinity College.
The Chairperson Sports association Committee of Secondary school head teachers of Uganda-ASSHU Onesmas Rukundo says that the decision was reached on last evening in a meeting that held
at National teachers college resource centre in Kabale municipality.
Rukundo also says that Trinity College Kabale was also banned from
representing Kabale district in the forthcoming Music dance and drama
competitions that will take place on 22nd july this year in Mbale
district.
He also says that the female teacher who checked the said student
during district competitions will also appear before the disciplinary
committee to explain why she said Byamugisha was a girl.
Rukundo also noted the three years ban for Kigezi College Butobere
that was put for fielding ineligible players in the recent concluded
Copa Coca-Cola post primaries will be served though the school
administration had petitioned demanding that the ban be lifted or
bought.
