CHAIRMAN RWABUHINGA WARNS RELIGIOUS LEADERS OVER MISLEADING HIV/AIDS PATIENTS

The district chairperson Kabarole Richard Rwabuhinga has strongly condemned religious leaders who stop people living with HIV/AIDS virus from visiting health facilities promising them miracles.
Rwabuhinga said this during the engagement of religious and cultural leaders on HIV/TB stigma and discrimination reduction in the national response.
Rwabuhinga disclosed that although the government is trying harder to eliminate HIV/AIDS to zero, there are some pastors who have gone ahead to mislead people living with HIV/AIDS by stopping them from going to the hospital for treatment.
the in charge of advocacy communications and research in the Uganda Aids commission Lillian Katatwebwa recently disclosed that there are still more infections of HIV/AIDS in Uganda especially in adolescents between the age of 15-24.
Lillian stated that the most affected adolescents are girls attributing it to sugar daddies who go for these girls.
HIV /AIDS prevalence in the country stands at 6.0% and in the Rwezori region stands at 5.5 % from 11%.
