CHAOS ERUPTS IN MASINDI COUNCIL AFTER DIVISION CHAIRPERSON’S ALLOWANCES ARE SCRAPPED OFF BUDGET

Chaos erupted on Tuesday afternoon during the Masindi Central Division Council sitting at the division headquarters over the scrapping off of chairperson’s allowances from the budget.
Reading the 2021/2 F/Y budget, Innocent Businge the Male Youth Councillor for central division, and also the secretary for finance planning and administration revealed that during the campaigns, Isaac Bongomin the Central Division chairperson elect said his allowances should be scraped off, and allocated to other sectors including the orphanage and widows.
Businge Innocent explained that as the executive committee they wanted to fulfill the manifesto of the incoming chairperson.
“Bongomin said his allowances should be allocated to the needy including the orphans, widows, and as the planning board we had to allocate his allowances as said before but he is now refusing,” Businge noted.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com reporter shortly after the council sitting, Isaac Bongomin the chairperson elect for central division said the council cannot implement on his manifesto, it’s him to implement on what he promised people.
“It’s true I promised people i will be sharing my little allowances with the most vulnerable people especially the orphans, widows, and school going children, but council has no authority to scrap off my allowances,” He noted.
Bongomin also told our reporter that the outgoing chairperson and the secretary for finance want to fail him. He has however said they will wait for another council sitting where he will ask for the review of the budget to ensure all the allowances are reign stated.
According to Sunday Paul the councilor representing civic ward to the division, it’s a political game, and the secretary for finance has decided to implement on the manifesto of the incoming chairperson which caused chaos eruption in the councilor sitting.
