CHILD KIDNAPPER ARRESTED AFTER DEMANDING UGX 300 M RANSOM

Police in Kagadi have arrested a 21-year-old man who is suspected of kidnapping a seven-year-old boy and demanding a shs300 million ransom in order to release him.
The suspect has been identified as Moses Kataremwa, a resident of Kyaterekera B cell Kyaterekera town council in Kagadi district.
The incident happened last month, in the Kyaterekera town council when a 7-year-old Ethan Moses was kidnapped from his parents’ home. Ethan Moses is the son of Moses Tumwebaze a re-known businessman based in Kyaterekera town council.
Moses Muzima Kiconco, the Kagadi District Police Commander told our reporter that last month Moses Tumwebaze reported a case of a missing person at Kyaterekera police station.
According to Muzima, the suspect was tracked in Kampala through phone calls as he prepared to flee the country after receiving a shs9m ransom.
Muzima said that the suspect will be charged with kidnap and obtaining money illegally. He is currently detained at Kagadi Central Police Station.
In an interview with our reporter at Kagadi Central Police Station on Thursday, Moses Kataremwa confessed to masterminding the kidnap of Moses Ethan. He said that he wanted to go abroad to secure a well-paying job.
