CHRISTMAS DAY: OVER 60 ARRESTED IN KISORO BARS LATE AT NIGHT
By Ambrose Kweronda
In Kisoro—
Police in Kisoro have arrested more than 60 people who were found in bars and clubs along Mutanda road in Kisoro Municipality late in the night on Christmas day.
The suspects who are still being detained at Kisoro Police Station are believed to have been part of merry makers despite the Curfew regulations and the known fact that all bars and clubs are still closed indefinitely.
Kisoro Deputy Resident District Commissioner Dan Ndikumwami confirmed the development.
Ndikumwami said he is pleased with the security who took charge of a highly volatile situation because COVID 19 is real and people from Kampala and other places are mixing and locking themselves up in bars and clubs.
According to Ndikumwami, one of the clubs on Mutanda road had a standoff with security for over 5 hours when revelers locked themselves inside the bar and denied police to access the premises.
By Press time, www.mknewslink.com learnt that the club owner and all its people had been arrested.
Security in Kisoro have vowed to carry out more operations for the remaining days till the New Year’s Day of 2022.
