COL. BESIGYE’S RALLY INTERRUPTED BY POLICE IN MASINDI

Police in Masindi district yesterday interrupted Besigye’s rally at Masindi stadium in Masindi town Masindi municipality.
In the morning police first Blocked Besigye’s supporters from attending the conference at millennium hotel in Hoima district accusing them of operating without clearance from police.
In Masindi also FDC members struggled to get clearance from police which it had refused to grant them. FDC leaders in Masindi secured clearance from police at around 4:00PM which led his rally to start late.
Police cleared Besigye to hold a rally in Masindi stadium but he was given only 30 minutes to address his subjects.
It all started when Besigye failed to utilize his given time. This prompted Police to deploy heavily in the stadium forcing his supporters to disappear before the rally had ended.
When Besigye show police arguing with other FDC officials for him continued addressing his people but he was forced to stop after police threatened to tear gas people.
The heavily deployed police which was being commanded by the Regional Police Commander, Rooney Waiswa went ahead and interrupted his movement around Masindi town after the rally.
No arrest was made but Waiswa said that he did to maintain peace in Masindi town.
