COMMITTEE SET UP TO INVESTIGATE RUHARO PRESIDENTIAL SACCO CRISIS

Five people have been selected to follow and investigate a case in which the former Manager Ruharo heifer Presidential SACCO, Aurelian Byarugaba is alleged to have stolen SACCO’s money.
The resolution was made by the RDC Bushenyi Jolly Tibemanya together with the SACCO members yesterday 19th Feb. 2020 during an Extra Ordinary Meeting for Ruharo heifer presidential project SACCO.
Chris Muganzi was assigned to led the committee and will be helped by Alosius Nshemerirwe who is a chairman for pressure group, Alex Nampa ,Velentino and Ms Sidona Tuwangye to investigate the crisis of the Former manager which is currently in court.
RDC noted that the team that has been selected to investigate shall be required to come with the report at the day of AGM.
He warned that to revive the presidential SACCO, loan defaulters must respond positively through bringing back the money that was given to them.
District Commercial Officer David Byamukama who attended the meeting revealed that recommendation from the external auditor showed that the former SACCO manager Byarugaba owed the bank up to 144, 650,532 Uganda shillings.
DCO added that Aurelian’s case of stealing the SACCO’s money was taken to the anti corruption court in Kampala under CRB 871/18 assuring that they shall keep on with investigations to make sure the missing money comes back into the SACCO.
Members have been appreciating a pressure group led by Aloysius Nshemerirwe a.k a Losio for the work done since they started call meetings to discuss on the future of the SACCO.
According to the documents presented to meeting, the SACCO loan portfolio was worth ugx 146,551,100 by 2019 and the membership had reduced to 874 from that of 1,385 in 2018.
