CONGOLESE REFUGEE DIES OF COVID 19 IN HOIMA

A 27 year old refugee at Kyangwali refugee Settlement in Kikuube District has died of Covid 19.
The male victim of Congolese Origin died on Saturday at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital Covid 19 treatment unit.
He was buried in the Kyangwali refugee Camp.
Dr. Nicholas Kwikiriza the District Health Officer Kikuube says this man who was a resident of Kavule in the camp is said to have gone to the nearby facility at Maratatu Health Center in the camp after feeling headache, swollen throat, dry cough and sneezing.
Health workers informed the district Covid19 taskforce on August 6th that sent an ambulance and took him to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital.
According to the DHO blood samples were picked from him and taken to Kampala but he died after spending two days there.
When the results came back yesterday, they showed that this refugee had succumbed to Covid 19.
Dr. Kwikiriza explains that the deceased went to DRC a few days back and that’s where he could have got the disease.
He says they have deployed their team in the Camp to do the screening of all contacts.
This is the first case to be reported in the district.
