CORRUPTION IS ENDEMIC IN MITOOMA DISTRICT AMONG COUNCILLORS ,STAFF BECAUSE I WAS CENSURED–KARYEIJA

Mitooma former strong district chairman Benon Karyeija has revealed that corruption has increased among staff and district councilors because he was forced out of office by councilors under the influence of Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire the Minister of Justice and Constitutional affairs.

Karyeija said this today 8^th Oct.2019 in a Whatsapp interview with www.mknewslink.com managing editor.

Karyeija noted that when he was in office the district was growing steadily in all sectors, being ranked at a national level with good positions adding that but now it is known for corrupt councilors and staff.

Karyeija was censured by councilors alleging that he abused his office and was found of abusing councilors on radios.

A three man tribunal headed by Justice David Matovu investigated the claims by councilors and concluded that Karyeija indeed abused his office hence was forced out of office by the tribunal.

He ran to high court, later to court of appeal and the case has never been decided.

When Karyeija was still a chairman, the district was peaceful without corruption tendency.

Of recent corruption in Mitooma district has been at its peak as On 26^th Sept.2019  the principal personnel in charge of district service commission Amon Byamugisha was arrested by Mitooma police as he started his work in his office on charges of corruption.

Amon Byamugisha , Saverino Beyendeza the District Community Development Officer DCDO, Sarah Kiconco CDO Katenga Sub County were yesterday arrested by the IGG’s office  while Onesmus Agaba is still on run.

Mean while Honest Bamanyisa principal human resource officer and David Betega the former acting CAO Mitooma district are being investigated on charges related to corruption.
