CORRUPTION: POLICE HUNT FOR MBARARA CITY SERVICE COMMISSIONER MEMBER

The police in Mbarara city have launched a man hunt for Benjamin Karugaba a member of Mbarara city service commission.
Benjamin Karugaba is on the run after he solicited millions of money from various job applicants in Mbarara City, authorities have said.
According to SP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson, Karugaba connived with other two commission members who include ;Edward Karugaba and Lubega.M.Kazooba to solicit money from desperate candidates with promises of offering them jobs.
He revealed that police last week managed to arrest Edward Karugaba and his counterpart Lubega .M. Kazooba all on charges of corruption and extortion.
It’s worth noting that in December 2022, Mbarara city authorities advertised different positions city chief finance officer,city planner, natural resources, and Environment officer, physical planner, commercial officer,and principal internal auditor.
The exercise which was moving on smoothly was later halted by city authorities after some members of the commission solicited money from candidates.
Mbarara city which attained the city status in 2021 was given new structures by government, which required them to advertise for the new positions.
