COURT CASE AGAINST SELF STYLED ANKOLE KING UMAR DISMISSED

Magistrate’s court sitting in Mbarara has dismissed the case in which -the self-styled king of Ankole Umar Asiimwe Rubabansi VI was accused of promoting sectarianism.
Asiimwe together with four of his ministers Max Muhumuza, Joseph Kankiriho, Brenda Katushemerirwe and Wycliffe Amanya were all on seven charges.
The charges were ranging from inciting violence, promoting sectarianism and impersonation among others.
Appearing in court on 8th August2019, the Mbarara grade one magistrate Sanyu Mukasa dismissed their case after the plaintiff failed to provide standing evidence.
Paul Tusubira the advocate said that the evidence brought by George William Katantumba was not enough so they dismissed a case against Umar Asiimwe.
Addressing the media after court session, Umar Asiimwe vowed to continue with his works of the palace at Itaaba in Kyabanyoro Nyakayojo division in Mbarara Municipality.
He also cautioned those who are accusing him that he is fighting government noting that they are aiming to tarnish his name
Polly Muyambi the spokesperson for Ankole kingdom said that this case has been in court since February 2018 and they have spent almost one year and 6months in court.
He noted that they have maintained the law and they will continue support the government.
Much as his cases were dismissed, the self-styled king still has a number of cases in court among them is assaulting his father Kaweesa Idrisa during New Year party on the 31st of December 2019.
The family disagreements in relation to who is the right heir to the throne saw the Itaaba palace set a breeze and property worth millions plus traditional regalia were destroyed.
