COURT OF APPEAL STARTS TWO WEEKS CRIMINAL SESSION IN FORT PORTAL

A panel of judges from the court of appeal led by Hon Justice Egonda Ntende officially opened up a two weeks criminal sessions at Fort portal court.
Among the other judges include Justice Helen Obura and Justice Christopher Madrama.
According to residence high court judge Fort portal Justice Wilson Musalu Musene , the criminal session will last for two weeks whereby 40 cases will be listened to including civil and criminal cases both sentenced and convicted
While opening the session, Hon Justice Egonda disclosed that court of appeal is overwhelmed by a backlog of cases in both criminal and civil.
Justice Egonda said that they have over 200 civil and over 200 criminal cases in the whole country thus calling up on lawyers to prepare well case files that will enable them finish in time so that everyone get justice dissevered.
Meanwhile council Vincent Mugisha speaking to the judges expressed concern over pending charges to sick prisoner’s whom he explained that they have started calling their layers making wills before they die when their cases have not been worked on.
Mugisa has cited at two prisoners that has approached him over the same issues thus tasking the court of appeal consider special attention on them.
