COURT REMANDS TWO BUSINESS MEN ON CHARGES OF THEFT OF GOV’T DRUGS IN NTUNGAMO

Court in Ntungamo district presided over by grade one magistrate Mss. Shallon Nassuna has today remanded two business men in charge of Nyongozi health center II on charges of theft and illegal possession of government stores until 28th February for the next hearing.
The Grade one magistrate Nassuna identified the accused as Mr. Kato Shaban, Mr. Amos Tumwesigye and Mr. Frank Ensinikweri in charge of Nyongozi health centre II.
These were on 25th January-2023 in Kyagarama cell, Nyongozi ward Ntungamo district arrested for stole assorted type of drugs, Towit, nine boxes of disposable nitrile exam gloves, 15 boxes of Malaria AG PF five boxes of paliparum, one box of Komefan 140, two boxes of triclofem 150MG/M among others all valued at approximately 17,128,470 UGX which are the properties of the republic of Uganda.
Mss. Shallon Nassuna who presided over the court session did not allow the accused to take any plea over charges inflicted on them but the accused were read their charges.
According to Dr. Warren Naamara the director Health Monitoring Unit confirmed the anonymity saying that the accused were arrested by the health monitoring unit police in hand with the Ntungamo police who handed them to courts of laws to take its course.
Dr. Warren Naamara added that it is embezzlement and it is not withstanding the standard junction of innocent
The Grade one magistrate Nassuna Said that in charge of Nyongozi health centre II Mr. Frank Ensinikweri who also failed to give accountability and cause a government financial loss of 17104538UGX
The accused were remanded in Ntungamo prison and will return to court for next hearing on 28th.Feburuary.2023
