In Fort Portal—
The administration of the catholic diocese of Fort-portal has canceled the annual pilgrimage to Katosa martyrs shrine in Kyenjojo district over covid-19 restrictions
The annual pilgrimage to Katosa is held on every 27th January in commemoration of St. Adolf Tibeyalirwa one of the martyrs who was among the 22 martyrs killed in Namugongo on the orders of Kabaka Mwanga in 1886.
Thousands of pilgrims from Fort-portal diocese and other parts of Uganda travel every year while others walk on foot to gather at a catholic parish which was built in commemoration of St. Adolf Tibewalirwa
Adolf Kamara the guild president of the Uganda martyrs Fort-portal diocese told www.mknewslink.com that they have decided to celebrate scientifically due to covid-19
According to Kamara, different parishes have put in place different ways of celebrating the day hence urging the Bakaiso members and other Christians to embrace new arrangements.
Adolf Tibewalirwa was a native of Mweri in Katosa, Kyenjojo district. The Uganda Episcopal conference authorized Fort Portal Diocese to hold an independent martyr’s day celebration every year.
