Bushenyi district nominated political leaders are living in fear following two top leaders testing positive to COVID 19 while campaigns are going on.
The two top leaders who tested positive are the chairman Jaffari Bassajabalaba, the speaker Justine Burisadi and they are both being treated at Mbarara regional referral hospital.
Some political leaders are turning the disease into a political tool according to whom they support; one group for Annet Mugisha and another for Hassan Bassajabalaba alongside Mary Karooro.
According to some whatsapp groups in Bushenyi such as Citizen report Card administered by Kakonge Appolo lee the disease is exaggerated by the Bassajabalaba’s team to disorganize Annet Mugisha’s team because so far the two victims are supporters of Annet Mugisha.
The two camps are pulling ropes over the Bushenyi district woman parliamentary seat that has too much competition in the district.
Another hotly contested seat is Bushenyi Ishaka municipality parliamentary seat which has attracted 7 contesters; Derrick Kabuura Baimukye, the incumbent Gordon Arinda Cowboy, Arnold Spencer Turwomwe ,Marvin Baryaruha, Chris Muganzi, Musoke Rutagi, Nasser Kankuriremu.
According to RDC and DHO, Bushenyi is likely to get more cases because the two confirmed cases are from politicians who have of recent been campaigning and meeting many people.
The task force therefore warns leaders and the rest of the community to be careful and test for COVID 19 at all heath facilities of KIU, Comboni hospital, Kyabugimbi HCIV, Ishaka Adventist hospital and Bushenyi municipal HCIV.
