Security operatives in Hoima district are using excessive force while enforcing the ministry of health COVID19 preventive directives.
This is after two people sustained serious injuries as a result of efforts to arrest them.
Jonan Tumusiime, 24, a resident of Kibararu cell, Buhimba town Council in Kikuube district who is currently receiving treatment at ABC grand hospital in Kiryatete Hoima municipality says that the officers stopped him while carrying a patient from hospital at around 12pm.
Tiumusiime notes that the UPDF officer hit him using a hammer he had picked from another suspect they had arrested.
Previously Stephen Namanya 30, a resident of Kyebaando Nansana in Wakiso district while riding a Bajaj boxer registration number UEK 739U in Kinuubi town Hoima Municipality was allegedly chased by security officers who were on Thursday enforcing the curfew directive.
As he was avoiding the officers, Namanya rammed into a big hump along Hoima Kampala road hitting his head in a trench where he sustained serious injuries before being rushed to Hoima regional referral hospital where he is getting treatment.
Julius Hakiza Allan, the Albertine region police spokesperson has however refuted all allegations saying that the victim involved in an accident while riding at high speed beyond curfew time and under influence of alcohol.
