DEBTS EATING UP KIGEZI HIGH SCHOOL, BANKS AND SUPPLIERS DEMAND 800M

Kigezi high school in Kabale Municipality is in shortfall of 800 million shillings.
This was revealed yesterday Dec. 24, 2018 during the launch of the rehabilitation of Aggrey dormitory and the girls bathrooms by the Kigezi high school old students association that was presided over by the State Minister of for Finance and Economic Planning Minister, David Bahati.
The head teacher of the school Steven Mugume, said that the shortfall arose out of the accumulated debts of the school which came after the increase of some school necessities especially foodstuffs, failure by parents to pay schools in time and the decrease in the enrolment of the students.
He says that they are currently managing the money for running the school, but they dont have where to get the extra money to clear the debts of the school, and also completing the construction of a 700 million shillings three stalled building which government started in 2010 and abandoned that now needs 1500 million shillings to completion.
The Chairperson of Kigezi high school old students Association KHOSA Alfred Kabuchu said that they need an urgent funding from government in order to be able to manage the deficit.
The State Minister of for Finance and Economic Planning Minister, David Bahati promised to present the matter to theMinisterfor Education and Sports Hon Janet Kataaha Musevenito see if an urgent action can be taken.Source:
