DEPUTY MAYOR KASIBURE: COLLECTION OF TAXES NO LONGER RESULT INTO DEATH BUT ONLY TECHNOLOGY WORKS

The deputy mayor has revealed that the collection of taxes is no longer a do or die but mastered and driven by technology.
The deputy mayor said this in a round table discussion on property tax of the business community of Bushenyi- ishaka and municipal as well as leaders at Tuzza hotel.
He gave an example in Nyakabirizi division during the graduated tax time , the son of Kirimi was shot dead because of failure to pay the tax.
He noted that out 1.4Billion local revenue tax for Bushenyi-Ishaka, 32 percent totaling to 445million is property tax and 75 percent of that is used to do services within the municipality.
Mr kasibure noted that 4300 are owners of buildings in the three division of Ishaka, Nyakabiriizi and central in municipality.
2023/24 budget, the property tax will be used to design a master development plan for municipality, still it will be used to build trench channels at dairy in Bushenyi and Rurangaranga lane in Ishaka.
He added that in the last financial year property tax was used to buy strong street lights for kabirisi road in Ishaka and soon are coming to central and Nyakabirizi divisions in subsequent financial years.
