DEPUTY RDC KABALE HALTS KASHEREGYENYI HEALTH CENTER III CONSTRACTION

The Kabale Deputy Resident District Commissioner Gad Rugaaju has
halted the construction of Kasheregyenyi Health Center III in Kamuganguzi Sub County in Kabale district citing shoddy work.

Early this year, Kabale District Council approved the elevation of
Kasheregyenyi Health Centre II to the level of Health Centre III as a
way of improving health standards in the area.

After the district secured Ugx500m from the government to construct a structure where the Health Centre III will operate from, Riky Building Materials Limited, a construction company was given a contract and they took over works on 15th March 2019 and were expected to complete by 31st June 2019.

The structure will accommodate the maternity ward, the general ward, and the antenatal and postnatal departments.

However, on 14^th may2019 during the site visit by the Kabale Deputy RDC and other district leaders, they found out that the works that are going on are wanting.

They also found out that half of the structure fell down after the foundation stage.

The district councilor representing Kamuganguzi sub county Julius
Barusya says that though the contractor erected a fresh the part which fell down, it has now developed fresh cracks starting from the foundation.

Barusya accuses the contractor of failure to add hardcore stones and concrete in the foundation as well as using poor quality blocks.
