DISCRIMINATIVE SELECTION OF NATIONAL TEAM RESPONSIBLE FOR POOR PERFORMANCE—FUFA DELEGATES

A section national Federation of Uganda Football Association delegates on Saturday 20 October 2018 blamed the poor performance of national teams on the discrimination in selection the national teams from one region of central neglecting other regions.
Delegates raised the concerns yesterday during the 94th Ordinary FUFA Assembly that was organized at White Horse Inn in Kabale municipality Kabale district.
FUFA delegates who included; Fazio Mohammad from Jinja, Lonnie Mutebi and Anthony Tumwesigye a beach soccer FUFA delegate say that the country would not be performing poorly in sports if there were poor procedures of selecting the national teams from all regions that form the nation.
They claim that the national team selection is limited in central region of the country neglecting other regions.
However, the FUFA president Eng Magogo Moses denies the allegations that there is discrimination in the selection of the national teams saying that players are selected based on merit and that most players at national teams are not from the central region as said but says that they are the players who are play for big clubs in Kampala but originates from all parts of the nation.
Meanwhile, the former player Uganda Cranes player and a long time football administrator and a coach James Zatwoshaho was awarded with a life serving Award of 1 million Uganda shillings and a plaque by the FUFA president for his tremendous contribution in the football development in Kabale and Uganda as a whole. Zatwoshaho who is now 84 years played at the national team in 1934.
The celebrations were inclined under theme ”professionalization and grass football”. Other celebrations will take place in Adjumani district next year.
