DISTRICTS CHALLENGED TO FORM SPORTS COUNCILS

The chairpersonofNational Councilof Sports in Uganda,Bosco Onyik, has asked the entire districts to form Functional District Sports Councils in order to help in improving the sports.
Speaking in a meeting that attracted sports stakeholders from Kabale district, held at Cephas Inn in Kabale municipality, Onyik said that the sports is declining in different districts including Kabale due to lack of District sports councils.
He said that the District Sports Council shall be responsible for organizing sporting activities, liaise with National Council of sports to protect and maintain the sporting activities, and lobby for funding to put in sports and where all the district sports associations and clubs will have to be affiliated to the district sports councils.
He adds that the Secretary for the District Sports Councils must be the District Sports Officer who will help to run it.
Onyik said that once the district sports councils are created and become functional by starting out sports clubs, it will help them to get funding from the National Council of Sports and other cooperate organizations.
During the meeting, the Kabale District Sports Officer Moses Bwengye Tumwijukye pledged to form the District sports council which will always help to coordinate sporting activities in the district hoping to form it before next Month ends.
