The government has finally released face masks to Bushenyi district and they are supposed to be distributed to people at the end of next week.
Dr. Edward Mwesigye the Bushenyi District Health Officer handed the masks to subcounty chiefs yesterday at the district headquarters.
Dr. Mwesigye said that they have received a total of 192157 masks adding that they will however not be enough for all Ugandans in Bushenyi district above 6 years since they are 4000 less.
Dr. Mwesigye urged the sub county chiefs to be accountable for the masks given to them and to encourage the public to continue following the Standard Operative Procedures (SOPs) in the process of distributing these masks.
The Bushenyi District Chief Administrative Officer Malik Mahaba requested the Sub County Chiefs to encourage the public to always use the masks, wash them when they get dirty in order to reduce the risks of contracting coronavirus.
Mahaba said that coronavirus is real and requested the sub county chiefs to cooperate with the parish chiefs and LCI chairpersons to distribute these masks as soon as possible.
The chairman LCV Bushenyi district Jaffari Bassajjabalaba asked the chiefs not to involve politics in this process of mask distribution.
