Head teachers have been cautioned on sending away orphans from schools due to failure to pay schools fees.
The warning was sounded by the Bushenyi district Chief Administrative Officer Elias Byamungu today at Bushenyi municipal multipurpose hall in a workshop organized by Uganda Multi -sectoral Food Security and Nutrition Project (UMFSNP) that aims at fighting malnutrition among school going children.
The workshop was attended by head teachers, chairpersons school management committees, and at least one science teacher from 100 governments aided primary schools across Bushenyi that benefit from UMFSNP.
Byamungu threatened to deal with any head teacher whom he discovers that he has sent away the underprivileged from school because they cannot pay their school fees.
He added that those students who can manage to pay should pay but those who have no money should be left to learn like others.
Jaffari Bassajabalaba the Bushenyi district chairman threatened to eliminate some of the schools that are beneficiaries of UMFSNP which have failed to produce up to the expected.
He noted that schools receive enough funds but are diverted to other school programmes instead of fighting malnutrition which is a big problem to most families in Bushenyi especially in Bitooma subcounty.
