DOWRIES, POVERTY LEAD CAUSES OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN BUSHENYI

Dowries, poverty and transformation of technology have been cited as a major cause of based gender violence in families.
This was yesterday revealed by Rtd. Can. Joel Asiimwe during the Reproductive Health Uganda organized intergeneration dialoguer at Bushenyi Multipurpose hall in Bushenyi Town.
The dialogue attracted religious leaders, politicians, stakeholders, elders and students from different schools.

Asiimwe who was speaking on behalf of elders, added that men have neglected their families a reason why a number of children drop out of school to engage in casual labour.
Christopher Mugunya; spokesperson for Bushenyi Medical Centre said that also dowry causes domestic violence in the communities where women are seen as assets.
Speaking at the dialogue, the district LCV chairman; Jaffari Basajjabalaba disclosed that the NRM Government has introduced new programs ranging from Operation wealthy creation to Youth lively hood to generate domestic income in a measure to fight against Poverty.
The dialogue was officially opened by Ms Lydia Bamutya; the project coordinator of a project fighting against domestic violence in Bushenyi district and implemented under Reproductive Health Uganda Bushenyi branch. She wished the participants good deliberations.
