The presidential candidate for Democratic Party has blamed the ruling government for the collapse of district Co-operatives.
Mao noted that Co-operatives like the Banyankole Kweteerana Co-Operative Union, Masaka, Bugisu plus Co-Operative Bank among others collapsed because the government neglected them.
Mao was addressing his supporters in Ibanda district over the weekend at Kitwe playground in Ibanda municipality as he prepares for next year’s elections.
He promised to revive all the co-operatives so that farmers can get market for their produce and also get access to loans from their banks.
“If a thorn is in your shoe and you feel pain in your foot, you use a sharp object to remove the thorn then become comfortably” he explained.
He added that he has not seen any government in Uganda hand over power to the incoming government peacefully.
“If the outcome of 2021 elections is a true result of the people’s wishes, I will become the first president to accept the results and handed over the government, witnessed by Ugandans,” Mao said.
