DR. ELIODA’S CANDIDATURE IN SHEEMA MUNICIPALITY HANGS IN BALANCE

Following the decision by Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye to join the race for Sheema municipality Parliamentary seat, mixed reactions have been experienced in the constituency.
Deborah Asiimwe the Sheema district registrar referred our reporter to the deputy PRO electoral commission Mr. Paul Bukenya who declined to comment saying that it’s not yet time since nominations for general election have not commenced. He added that he cannot comment on romours, “
Counsel Jadson Agaba of Nuwagaba and Agaba Company advocates noted that the most important for one to contest is the area of registration, noting that Elioda is free to contest for Sheema municipality.
He also disclosed that Constituents of Sheema north may also disown Elioda as he is not a registered voter in their constituency which also gives him a go ahead.
According to Section 4 of the Parliamentary elections Act 2005, a person holding a public office shall in the case of a general election resign his or her office at least ninety days before nomination day.
