Let us congratulate Hon Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye upon winning this election petition and also thank Hon Virginia Mugyenyi for choosing to go to court to seek justice. Thousands and thousands of Banyasheema and Ugandans generally feel Virginias disappointment especially those who invested their hopes and dreams in election petition effort. But that is life.

Let us hope that Dr Elioda Tumwesigye will be a successful MP and politician for all of us. Remember, our campaign was never about one person, or even one election. It was about the Sheema Municipality we love and building a Uganda that is hopeful. We have seen that Sheema District generally is more deeply divided than we thought but if we put our heads together we can make a difference. Dr Elioda Tumwesigye is our MP is going to be our MP for the next 2 years and we owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.

Let me add that our democracy demands our participation, not just every five years, but all the time. So let’s do all we can to keep advancing the causes and values we all hold dear. A loss is hurting but please let us never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it. It is, it is worth it.

Let us count our blessings every single day and I still believe, as deeply as I ever have, that if we stand together and work together with respect for our differences, strengthen our convictions, and love for Sheema District and our nation Uganda, our best days are still ahead of us. And you should never, ever regret fighting for the right cause the unity and development of our mother land. Galatians 6: 9 says Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

My friends, let us have faith in each other, let us not grow weary and lose heart, for there are more seasons to come and there is more work to do.
