In Kyenjojo—
The Electoral commission has set 25th January 2021 as the voting date for Mwenge North Member of Parliament after last Thursday’s postponement.
Voting of Mwenge North parliamentary candidates in Kyenjojo district was postponed after names and symbols of two candidates out of four candidates in the race were found mixed up.
The name and symbol of David Muhumuza the NRM candidate was attached to a photo of an independent candidate Politazi Mulimbanyi while Mulimbanyi’s symbol of table and his name were attached to Muhumuza’s photo.
As a result, voters got confused forcing the presiding officers to halt the whole process as they waited for the way forward from the returning officer Daniel Baguma.
When contacted Baguma, said the top electoral commission management directed him to halt the process and postpone the voting of the Mwenge North parliamentary candidates as the next date for election will be announced later.
He has now confirmed that the electoral commission has finally set Monday 25th January 2021 as the voting date for the seat.
