The education sector is expected to take the biggest percentage of the Mbarara city budget for the financial year 2021-2022.
According to Mbarara district secretary for finance Bazil Bataringaya, education sector is supposed to take 13 billion shillings as part of the total 32 billion.
While reading the budget yesterday at the council hall, he revealed that administration will follow with 6 billion, and then 4 billion will be allocated to Health sector.
Bataringaya noted that the budget which was approved by the council in April was 29 billion but increased after the government brought in two billion to facilitate the parish model program.
He said that this financial year’s budget has increased by 5 billion from 27 of the financial year 2020/2021.
He asked people to form groups so that they can benefit from the parish model program since they will be allowed to borrow the money then return it after a stipulated time.
1.2 billion shillings of the budget is expected from taxes while the remaining 30 will be attained from the central government.
