ELEPHANT KILLS WOMAN IN RUKUNGIRI

Residents of Nyamuhika 1 cell Nyabubare parish, Bwamabra sub- county in
Rukungiri district are engulfed in shock after their fellow resident
was killed by an elephant.
Tumuhirwe Hadija, 45, was attacked and killed by the elephant on 12th April 2017 today
Wednesday morning in queen Elizabeth National park.
Emuna Richard, the Rukungiri district police commander confirmed the
incident and said that the woman was allegedly fetching fire wood when the
elephant attacked and killed her.
“she was fetching firewood when the elephant
attacked and killed her” he said.
Emuna said that the body of the deceased was picked and taken to
Bugangari health center 4 for postmortem and later will be handed over
to the relatives for burial.
He warned all people neighboring the park to desist from entering the
park for any activities so as to avoid such dangerous incidents.
