ELEPHANTS, BUFFALOES DESTROY CROPS IN IBANDA

IN IBANDA—
Several herds of elephants and buffaloes from the National Park in Kasese district have crossed the park and destroyed many crops including maize,beans,cassava,germinating millet and other crops from the gardens in Kicuzi sub county.
Residents who are neighboring Kyambura game reserve in Kicuzi sub-county,
Ibanda district said that they want the staff of Uganda Wild Life Authority (UWA) to come and
contact the local leaders to listen to their complaints regarding their crops which were destroyed by the animals from the park.
Following uncoordinated visit of elephants and buffaloes which crossed from Queen Elizabeth National park through Kyambura game reserve and then crossed river Buhindagi entered the sub county of kicuzi via Irimya parish and were seen grazing in hills and some gardens where they destroyed several crops in gardens.
The LC 5 councilor,Mr. John Tushemereirwe told www.mknewslink.com reporter that the UWA has been giving support to residents of Kicuzi sub-county since it is their mandate to provide some money to the affected people who are neighboring the Queen national park, but
