IN BUSHENYI—-
The embattled former Bushenyi district senior forestry officer, Mr. Perez Kakumu at the beginning of this year handed over a stamp and hammer to his lowest cadre staff, a Forest guard instead of natural resources coordinator Mr. Cyril Mugyenyi.
According to the Bushenyi district police commander, Damiano Katwesiime, they are investigating reports that Mr. Kakumu has been receiving money from Timber licensed by his former junior, Innocent Mwebembezi.
The forest guard, Mwebembezi was arrested on Wednesday last week and was bonded over the weekend pending a meeting with Bushenyi CAO Mr. Elias Byamungu tomorrow April 25, 2017.
DPC Katwesiime told www.mknewslink.com editor today afternoon that he confiscated a hammer that Mwebembezi has been using to clear timber. This a hammer that was handed to him by Mr Kakumu.
Mr. Kakumu is not far from controversy, when he clocked 60 years mandatory civil service retirement time last year, he refused to leave office and negotiate a contract while at home. He remained in office for about two months.
According to sources from the district, he was offered a one year contract but the permanent secretary refused it because the Bushenyi district council had not approved the decision.
He tried to refuse to leave office again but the CAO became hard on him and left office. he however handed over the stamp and harmer used to clear timber to a forest guard instead of head of the sector or CAO since he did not have a deputy.
