EMBATTLED RWAMPARA CAO, DPO VOMIT UGX 7.5 M AS PART OF 38 M SOLICITED FROM PDM GROUPS

The two Rwampara District officials accused of misappropriating Parish Development Model (PDM) funds have refunded part of the money solicited from Parish Development model beneficiaries during group registration.
The two officials, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Steven Rubeihayo, and the production officer, Athanathias Gumisiriza, were arrested on Monday last week over misappropriating Shs 38 million meant to facilitate PDM activities.
They were released on police bond to start the process of recovering and refunding the missing cash and correcting any errors.
In a closed-door meeting chaired by the Rwampara Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Ms Jane Asiimwe Muhindo, at her office on Tuesday morning , the officials refunded UGX.7.5 million they solicited from 64 PDM groups from all Rwampara town Councils and other 304 groups from Rwampara sub counties.
According to Ms Jane Asiimwe Muhindo the Rwampara RDC the two solicited between Ugx.34000- ugx.50000 from Parish Development model groups which was handed back to the beneficiaries yesterday by the RDC.
Addressing journalists at the sidelines of the meeting on Tuesday, Ms Jane Asiimwe Muhindo revealed that they resolved to substantively recruit parish chiefs in 29 parishes, and immediate payment of people who did work for group formation trainings.
Muhindo further revealed that the money which was erroneously sent to Kiruhura (Kinoni Sub County) and was not followed up by the Chief Administrative Officer to be recovered.
PDM is a government strategy meant for delivering public and private sector interventions for wealth Creation and employment generation at the parish level as the lowest economic planning unit. This is aimed at ensuring support for more Ugandans to increase demand for goods and services.
