The Bishop of Hoima Diocese Vincent Kirabo Amooti has urged Ugandans to embrace coffee production.
He was on Sunday 20th may2019 speaking to Christians who live outside the Diocese under their umbrella of Hoima Diocese External Residents Association (Hoidera), during a mass at Gayaza in Wakiso district.
The mass marked the end of the Bishop’s annual pastoral visit to the Christians who live outside the Diocese in 2019.
The Bishop said commercial coffee production will create wealth and improve the livelihoods of families, explaining that Hoima Diocese has partnered with the Uganda Coffee Development Authority to promote commercial growing and production of the cash crop.
“The Uganda Coffee Development Authority has given us many seedlings. I was even the first to plant the coffee,” Kirabo said. He explained that the diocese organized meetings between the coffee authority and leaders in the diocese before distribution of seedlings started.
Meanwhile the Bishop said he was happy about the spiritual growth of the Christians. “I am happy that you are teaching the children the religious values and for keeping them in church. I have noticed great change since I was here for the pastoral visit last year,” he added.
He also encouraged Christians to love one another adding that this would help in growing the church and spreading the gospel.
HOIDERA has its home in Gayaza. Christians from Hoima Diocese living in Kampala and other areas hold prayers in Gayaza every first Sunday of the month.
