EUROPEAN UNION TO ENHANCE ITS AID, DEVELOPMENT FUND IN UGANDA

The European Union (EU) is set to enhance its Humanitarian Aid and development funding to Uganda due to its generosity to host refugees.
Speaking to our reporter, the EU ambassador to Uganda and head of the delegation of European Union Ambassadors that has been in Kisoro for two days Mr. Jan Sadek.
Said that the tourism, security and agricultural sectors are the major beneficiaries of this funding, Kisoro district being a breadwinner.
He noted that the team of ambassadors that has been in Kisoro assessing the impact caused by refugee’s influx in the country but also impact of the EU’s funding to different organizations on ground and Existing gaps.
Sadek commended Uganda for the good and favorable refugee policy and the generosity to host huge numbers of refugees and provide them with necessary care.
He revealed that the EU is aware that Rwanda is supporting the insurgencies in the Eastern DRC and that it has already condemned warned it,
He further said that the necessary funding will also be provided to ensure that the region executes its plans to end the war in DRC against humanity.
According to Sadek, EU has already started a partnership with the ministry of water and environment, Uganda Wild Life Authority, National Forestry Authority and other Non-Governmental organizations to support the ministries in different perspectives.
Meanwhile, he revealed that over 30 million Euros, close to 120 billion Ugandan shillings has been procured to support humanitarian agencies including UNHCR to support refugees and host communities. Part of this fund will be used to expand Nyakabande refugee transit center.
