Henry Mugarura the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) strong figure and a businessman in Kampala who hails from Ruhinda Sub County in Rukungiri district has returned to the ruling party National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Mugarura announced his comeback on 11th March 2023 during a press conference which was held at Rukungiri Inn, in Rukungiri Municipality.
He was received by the Rukungiri district NRM chairman who is also the national security minister Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi.
Mugarura claimed that FDC as a party was devoid of ideology and does not have any sensible prospects.
Mugarura added that he will go back to the grassroots and mobilize all the registered supporters of FDC to join the NRM party to foster development.
He was asked if the return was connected to any job offer, Mugarura said it was out of his personal decision to return to where he belonged.
During the press conference, Rukungiri district NRM chairman Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi said winning Mugarura back to the ruling party was a great achievement.
Minister Muhwezi disclosed that NRM in Rukungiri as the district is getting more united and this will help to foster the development faster since politics sometimes sabotages development as some people work against government programs.
Mugarura’s defection to NRM comes at a time when another group of over 50 FDC die hards in Rukungiri District crossed to the ruling party-National Resistance Movement (NRM) on 1st December 2022.
