FDC RESHUFFLE: WINNIE KIIZA, KATUNTU DROPPED; MWIJUKYE, MUNYAGWA GET POSITIONS

Leading Opposition Party Forum for Democratic Change, on Friday reshuffled is leadership at Parliament, replacing the Leader of Opposition Winnie Kiiza, with Gulu Woman MP, Betty Aol Ochan.

The FDC Working Committee management meeting that took place on Friday confirmed Betty Aol Ochan as the new Leader of Opposition.

The exit of Kiiza, who is also  Kasese woman MP, follows her notable refusal to work with the party leadership at Najjanankumbi. It is also learnt that the Party President Patrick Amuriat and Secretary General, Nandala Mafabi had resolved to drop Ms. Kiiza for her support to Muntu in the last elections.

Meanwhile, Ssemujju Nganda has been maintained as the Chief Opposition Whip in Parliament and will be deputized by Hon Tonny Muhindo.

Meanwhile, the Buhweju county MP, Francis Mwijukye has been appointed Commissioner of Parliament replacing veteran Cecilia Ogwal of Dokolo.

Kaps Hassan Fungaroo of Obongi County has been made Committee Chairperson of Government Assurance and Nandala Mafabi chair Public Accounts Committee.

In other changes, Hon Mubarak Munyagwa replaces Abdu Katuntu as the Chairperson of the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE). He will be deputized by Hon Moses Kasibante.

Roland Kaginda was named head of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, while DP’s Betty Nambooze was named CPA Representative.

However, Amurait said the changes had been made to strengthen leadership of the opposition in parliament.

He also denied claims that some people had been dropped because of their support for Muntu.

“These changes will take immediate effect what is left is informing the speaker of parliament. This should put to rest whatever speculation has been trending in social media,” he said.
