In Bushenyi–
The Forum for Democratic Change has fronted Ms Christine Bekunika as it’s flag bearer to contest for Igara-East Parliamentary seat in the by-election scheduled for Dec.14, 2017.
In the Party meeting held last evening Nov.02, 2017 at Valley Inn in Bushenyi town under the chairmanship of Paul Kahiigi unanimously chose Ms Bekunika to be the FDC flag bearer in the Igara-East by-election.
After being chosen, Bekunika vowed that if elected MP Igara-East, she will not allow unnecessary amendment of constitution most especially the Article 102(b) that limits president to rule beyond 75 year of age.
She explained that when a person becomes 70 years-old he/she needs only time to rest and enjoy fruits of his/her efforts.
Quoting the Bible; in the book of Psalms 90:10, Bekunika said “The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away”.
For this matter, she challenged all people behind the motion to remove presidential age limit from 75 years to focus on issues that can benefit all Ugandans but not Museveni as an individual.
Bekunika who contested in 2016 for Bushenyi district woman MP and defeated by Hon.Mary Karooro Okurut, is now set to tussle it out with Micheal Mawanda Maranga, Andrew Martial,Bernards Kananura,Benjamin Katana and Armstrong
She said she will be the voice of the voiceless, protect the constitution of Uganda and ensure that development is registered in Igara-East constituency.
