In Mbarara–
FDC party loser in the just concluded western Uganda MP elections has threatened to challenge the results in the courts of law.
Adios Denmark Beinomugisha managed only 26 votes in the race that attracted six contestants including NRM’s Edson Rugumayo who got with 1019 votes, followed by independent Arnold Turwomwe Spencer with 402 votes, Muramuzi Edwin 41 votes, Kamukama James of NUP 03 votes, and Kato Paul 00 votes.
The press release issued out by Adios Denmark Beinomugisha reveals that he didn’t agree with the results declared by the independent electoral commission that Edson Rugumayo won the youth MP western regionelections which was held on Feb.01.2021 at Ntare school , Mbarara city.
Adios noted that his legal team is currently engaged in intense exercise of preserving and searching for any piece of admissible and relevant evidence to enable him challenge the victory of Rugumayo Edson before the High court where he will be asking court to nullify it.
However, he humbly appealed to all delegates including Rugumayo Edson who voted in the afore-stated elections to voluntarily and urgently come forward with any direct or documented evidence of voter bribery, intimidation or brutality by security operatives or candidates.
According to Adios the law requires every polling station to be under the charge of one presiding officer who must then sign on each declaration form for that specific Polling station.
“The fact is that there were four polling stations but only one presiding officer Mr.latiff Ngonzi, singularly signed on the declaration forms for the results obtained from all those four polling stations,” Adios added.
He further said that his legal team is still investigating multitudinous allegations from concerned people that Rugumayo and the NRM illegally gave the delegates huge sums of money and other privileges like accommodation, meals, airtime and transport all totaling to 1.5 million shillings with the intention that the delegates vote for Rugumayo.
