Dr. Joseph Tindyebwa, the FDC Deputy National Secretary General in Charge of Policy and Research on Sunday donated 50kg of posho to Kabale municipality car washers who were affected by the lock down enforced to control the spread of COVID-19.
On Tuesday, the President of Uganda, HE Yoweri Museveni announced that the country will continue in partial lock down for three more weeks.
While handing over the food relief to car washers, Dr. Tindyebwa said that it is un fair for the president to Charge attempted murder on a person who is found distributing any relief to fight covid19 because it is time wasting and costly.
Tindyebwa said that there are many struggling needy people affected by the lock down to stem the spread of corona virus most especially in towns which can be easily identified by LC1 Chairperson rather than using district chairpersons and resident district commissioners.
Tindyebwa appealed to all church leaders to kneel down and to pray for the country because some Ugandans have taken this deadly disease as a business to improve their income yet locals are starving without what to eat.
However, DR Tindyebwa also appealed to government to change in terms and conditions of helping the affected persons because some groups are being ignored by the district corona virus task force authorities.
In his address to the nation on Friday, President Yoweri Museveni made a passionate appeal to the wealth individuals within the society to help throw their weight behind ongoing efforts to combat the marauding virus.
He urged those who can donate food and other essential items to do so through the official channel – the national taskforce, which is headed by Ruhakana Rugunda.
