FIRE AT WEST ANKOLE DIOCESE: WILLIS BASHASHA, PISON MUGIZI, WILFRED KATOBE FIGHT FOR HEAD OF LAITYSHIP

Everything is hot at West Ankole diocese as a date to elect a new head of laity nears.
So far three candidates have shown interest including the incumbent Willis Bashasha, Pison Mugizi and Wilfred Katobe.
Pison Mugizi declared his intention last night on his whatsapp group ‘Make Bushenyi Greater Again’ where he is the chief admin and members call him commander in chief.
Willis Bashasha has been the head of laity for about three years and is from Igara as well as Pison Mugizi.
Wilfred Katobe is a candidate for Sheema Christians and he has been bishop’s nominee.
Pison Mugizi represents Kibare parish and Bashasha represents all saints greater parish.
Wilfred Katobe represents Kihunda parish in Sheema and he is an advocate for formation of central Ankole diocese a new diocese to cover Sheema district.
CVS OF THE 3 CANDIDATES SO FAR FOR HEAD OF LAITY WEST ANKOLE DIOCESE
- Willis Bashaasha
He is a graduate of social works and administration at Makerere University.
He worked with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) for 16years.
He worked at Bushenyi local government as district chairman for 5 years (2011-2016)
He is currently serving his 2nd 5th term as a director manifesto implementation in the president’s office.
- Wilfred Katobe
He currently works with microfinance support Centre under the ministry of finance.
He is highly educated with BCOM from Makerere and masters in Business administration.
He has been a consultant in different organizations that offer what he has experience in
Being a bishop’s nominee in the Synod indicates that he is a strong person in church and he is able to deliver high level tasks.
- Pison Mugizi
Worked with New Vision as the sales representative in greater Bushenyi for over 20 years.
He is the founder and sole brain behind the powerful Buuturo SACCO.
He studied from Ruyonza school and Masheruka secondary school for both A and O levels.
He was a bishop’s nominee during Bishop Katonene’s short time.
He is shrewd businessman and political commentator.
The date for voting is yet to be set but elections at parish level are all done as the candidates await the diocese to announce the voting date.
