The minister for science, technology and Innovation Elioda Tumwesigye has refuted allegations that he disrupted the receiving of a Tax Waiver of Ugx51 M for Rwabutura new church project.
Richard Muhangi, the Chairman Bwombeka for Rwabutura Archdeaconry through social media platforms alleged that the minister who also serves as a Member of Parliament for Sheema municipality sabotaged their efforts to get the tax waiver that the church was supposed to receive from the minister for finance Matia Kasaijja.
Muhangi narrated that him and Hon. Jacklet sought for support to buy a tax waiver from Kassaija who promised them and put him (Muhangi) as a person to follow it up but after many times of trial, he was later told by Jacklet that she was informed by Kasaija that Elioda had told him to disregard/delay offering them a waiver.
Muhangi further explained that Kasaija told Jacklet that Elioda claimed he has strong hold in Rwabutura and if they delivered such a waiver, his votes would be affected. So, they shouldn’t be granted the waiver or he should be given time to see how to handle it.
However, Elioda said that those who know him well know that he can’t do such crap, and also know that he does not have time for negative energy.
He added that he is not a malicious or an envious person and can never stifle a developmental project in their area even if it was brought or implemented by his political opponent.
Elioda further said that in 2015 when he was the then health minister, amidst Muhangi’s criticisms, he went ahead and donated 45 expensive hospital beds to Muhangi’s health facility in Wakiso district wondering how he could really turn negative on his staunch supporters of Rwabutura if he could do that positive action to his self-confessed public opponent.
The minister noted that what Richard and Hon Jacklet allegedly said is a naked lie, absolute nonsense and indeed an insult to him adding that Muhangi could be being used as a pawn by hon Jacklet during this time of elections.
“It is one of the many and endless statements/postings by you Richard and your cohort intended to malign me and tarnish my image and to the public,” Elioda noted.
Finally Elioda demanded unequivocal public apology from his brother Richard, posted on various social media platforms within the shortest time possible noting that he believes they can turn a challenge into an opportunity for the people of Rwabutura and beyond.
He added that if he refuses and remains intransigent, he will have no alternative but to say ‘Enough is enough’ Romans Chapter 12 and 1st Corinthians Chapter 6 notwithstanding.
